Travel to the Old Town of Nice and discover its charms as well as venturing into the hills for a visit and tasting at an ancient winery.
Departing Monaco, your coach will ride along the Middle Corniche with beautiful views of Cap Ferrat, Villefranche and Beaulieu on the way to Nice, the capital of Cote d’Azur. Upon arrival you will have a panoramic drive before proceeding on foot to the Old Town. Admire the typical architecture while walking along Cours Saleya, where the popular flower market is on display every morning. Please do note that on Mondays, the flower market is replaced by a flea market. After some free time to explore this colorful area, you will continue inland to toward the Chateau Cremat Winery.
Overlooking the bay of Nice, Château de Crémat, the jewel of the prestigious appellation of the Bellet wines, is one of the oldest vineyards in France. Approximately 2,000 years ago, ancient Romans settled in this area and carved out tunnels that are still used today to mature and preserve their wines. The vineyard of 7 hectares (17.3 acres) is spread over the hills outside of Nice and enjoy an exceptional microclimate thanks to winds sweeping down from the alps and others coming up from the bay with an elevation that allows the grapes to mature slowly all year long. Discover the vineyards, the history of the castle, visit the gardens, terraces, the barrel cellar and the Roman galleries. An explanation of the winemaking process and tasting of the wines along with some Provencal snacks will be enjoyed before departing for the return drive to the yacht in Monte Carlo.
