Pamplona-Running of the Bulls

Pamplona-Running of the Bulls

Pamplona and its Old Town are intimately linked to the San Fermin Festival and the Encierro (Bull Run). The San Fermin, which became a synonym for the word “Fiesta” thanks to the novelist Ernest Hemingway, attract thousands of revelers from all over the world between July 6th and 14th every year. This year you have an amazing opportunity to attend this annual event in person. Be sure to check this off your “bucket list” when you participate on this exciting Yachting Land Adventure.

This Yachting Land Adventure departs the ship very early in order to arrive before the streets of Pamplona are closed for the festival. You will have a unique viewing point from a balcony overlooking the street to see the action below. After the bulls are cleared from the streets, breakfast will be enjoyed at a local restaurant. A guided walking tour provides a unique opportunity to stroll along the streets where the runners and bulls challenged each other: Santo Domingo, City Hall Square, Mercaderes and Estafeta, and then on to the Bullring. A stroll through the Old Part of the city reveals interesting buildings such as the church-fortresses of Saint Nicholas and San Saturnine, the old city walls, the Museum of Navarre and the Palace of the Kings of Navarre, which now houses the General Archives of Navarre. The Chapel of San Fermín, the church of San Lorenzo, the Pablo Sarasate Museum, the City Hall with its Baroque façade, the Cámara de Comptos and the Plaza del Castillo, all located at the heart of the city. This square surrounded by porches has several café terraces, including the well-known Café Iruña.

Free time is included to browse the shops, streets and buildings that are carefully looked-after and provide a great variety of cultural attractions and gastronomy before the 90-minute return drive to the yacht.

Notes: In keeping with the San Fermin's Festival Spanish tradition; all guests are requested to dress entirely in white. Comfortable clothes and closed toes shoes (no sandals, flip-flops or high heals) are highly recommended. This Yachting Land Adventure only operates on July 8th 2019 - during the San Fermin Festival.
