Description
Explore Saint Lucia’s west coast by e-bike and on foot. Depart the pier in Rodney Bay for the drive to the fishing village of Anse La Raye, bypassing Castries and passing banana plantations and tropical fruit trees. On arrival, guests receive a helmet, an e-bike, and a safety briefing, followed by a practice session. A short guided ride then leads through the village, past its historic buildings, before continuing along a country road on the outskirts of a secondary forest, where birdsong and the sound of a flowing river accompany the ride.
At the entrance to the Venus Waterfall trail, park the e-bikes and continue on foot with your guide to the waterfall and its river pool. The path crosses uneven ground of dirt and rock through lush forest, where the island’s tropical flora and fauna line the way. Pause at the pool to photograph the waterfall and listen to the cascading water. Retrace the trail to your e-bike and ride back to Anse La Raye, then continue a short distance to the viewpoint for photographs before returning to the village to board your vehicle for the drive back to the yacht.
Notes
Guests must be physically fit and free from heart, respiratory, back, leg, hip, or neck conditions. Participants must be between 16 and 70 years of age, between 5'4" (163 cm) and 6'5" (196 cm) in height, and weigh no more than 150 kg (330 lbs). A signed waiver is required, and children must remain under the supervision of a parent or guardian at all times. Each guest is provided with a safety helmet and receives a safety briefing before departure. A practice ride is mandatory to assess balance, braking, turning, and familiarity with the electric assistance. Phone use while riding is prohibited. The group is accompanied by a lead guide and a rear guide, and the riding pace is adjusted to accommodate the least confident rider. The drive between the yacht and the tour site takes approximately 50 minutes each way. Japanese-style buses are used, with limited legroom. Guests should wear cool, comfortable clothing and flat, rubber-soled walking and riding shoes. Surfaces at all stops include uneven concrete, asphalt, and dirt, while the return hike and bike ride from the river pool also involve rocky terrain. The hike is approximately 0.95 km (0.59 miles) each way and includes a river crossing with water depths of approximately 10–30 cm (4 inches–1 foot). The e-bike route is shared with local traffic, with approximately 90% of the ride taking place on a minor road leading to the waterfall and the remainder on a road with slightly more traffic. Guests can adjust the level of motor assistance on the e-bikes.
