  • Funchal, Madeira - Cable Car & Toboggan Thrills with Stone Chestnut Soup 199(USD)
    22 spaces remaining

    Description

Experience Madeira's aerial views, ride the cable car to Monte, toboggan down, and savor stone Chestnut soup and scenic views at Eira do Serrado! Embark on a journey through time as you explore Monte, a beloved Madeiran destination steeped in history. Once served by a steam railway in the 19th century, today, modern cable cars offer an equally enchanting ascent up the hillside from Funchal. Admire the twin-towered façade of the Our Lady of Monte Church, an iconic 18th-century landmark greeting visitors to this picturesque town. As you ascend, soak in panoramic vistas during the scenic fifteen-minute cable car ride, composed of 40 cozy cabins accommodating up to 8 passengers each. For thrill-seekers, the descent to Livramento awaits, where the famed basket sledges known as 'toboggans' offer an exhilarating ride down winding streets. But the adventure doesn't end there. Your tour continues to the breathtaking Eira do Serrado, offering a majestic panorama of Nun’s Valley—a historic refuge from pirate raids. Delight your taste buds with a sampling of the region's culinary heritage—a delicious 'stone soup' awaits, blending local flavors and traditions. Immerse yourself in Madeira's rich tapestry of culture, history, and gastronomy on this amazing journey, before returning to port with fond memories of your time in Funchal.

    Notes

This tour includes walking over paved and cobbled terrain with several steps and periods of standing throughout. The toboggan (basket sledge) ride is experienced seated in a traditional wicker sled accommodating two guests, guided downhill by local drivers. As this is a popular attraction, waiting times may range from approximately 15 minutes up to two hours, with queues outdoors. Guests who prefer not to take the sledge may return by tour bus. The tour is not wheelchair accessible and is not recommended for guests with limited mobility, pregnant women, or those with back problems. Visibility from scenic outlooks is weather dependent. There are 75 steps to reach Our Lady of Monte Church for an optional visit and if time permits. A minimum participation is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures and some have limited capacity. All adventures in the SeaDream Yachting Land Adventures program are subject to change. Final departures times will be published onboard.

  • Funchal, Madeira - Laurissilva by 4x4: A UNESCO World Heritage Journey 149(USD)
    30 spaces remaining

    Description

Leave the city behind and journey inland toward the dramatic valley of Serra de Água, where steep green slopes frame the winding mountain roads. Ascend to the Encumeada Pass, rising approximately 1,000 meters above sea level, for a dedicated photo stop overlooking the valley of Ribeira Brava. From this elevated viewpoint, take in sweeping views across the surrounding mountains before continuing your journey into the island’s interior. Begin your descent into the Laurissilva Forest, one of the largest surviving areas of UNESCO-listed laurel forest in the world. Upon reaching the remote northern side of the island, board open-roof 4x4 vehicles and follow unpaved forest tracks beneath a dense canopy of ancient laurel trees. Travel along narrow routes that pass through native vegetation unique to Madeira, offering close views of this protected natural reserve. Continue toward the northern vineyards of Quinta do Barbusano, set against the rugged Atlantic-facing slopes. Here, sample a selection of local table wines accompanied by regional tapas. The visit highlights Madeira’s contemporary winemaking traditions before the scenic return drive to Funchal.

    Notes

This adventure is suitable for physically fit guests and includes travel over paved, cobbled, hilly, and uneven terrain, with several steps at viewpoints and the winery. It is not wheelchair accessible and not recommended for guests with limited mobility, pregnant women, or those with back problems. Visibility from scenic outlooks is weather dependent. Comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended; a jacket or cardigan is advisable due to Madeira’s microclimate. Each jeep accommodates up to 6 guests. A minimum number of participants is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures, and some may have limited capacity. Please book on the Seadream.com website, or onboard, early to avoid disappointment. All adventures in the SeaDream Yachting Land Adventures program are subject to change.
