Little Bay, Montserrat
Little Bay, Montserrat

Montserrat, a lush, pear-shaped volcanic island nestled in the heart of the Leeward Islands, is known as the “Emerald Isle of the Caribbean,” in part because of its formerly large population of people who originated from Ireland. Montserrat is considered one of travel insiders’ favorite Caribbean islands, notably for its proximity to Guadeloupe, Antigua, and Nevis. The island is defined by slopes brimming with flora and fauna, the active volcano of Soufrière Hills, remote black-sand beaches, and welcoming locals. Most notably, Montserrat was home to producer George Martin’s Air Studios Montserrat recording studio where some of the world’s most famous recording artists, including Eric Clapton, the Little River Band, and Paul McCartney, recorded their albums.
