A crescent of brightly painted harbor houses makes Tobermory one of the most photographed small ports in Scotland, its waterfront distillery turning out a well-loved single malt within sight of the pier. The Mull Eagle Watch tracks the white-tailed sea eagles reintroduced to these cliffs, Britain's largest bird of prey, while boat trips regularly turn up minke whales, otters and porpoises in the surrounding sound. A golf course clings to the hillside above town for those who'd rather play through the view. Small, colorful, and genuinely wild at the edges.

I hate Commercial Cruises. So I reluctantly signed up for a SeaDream, and after a week on the boat, I could not think of one thing that was not done to perfection. The food was great, the staff was spectacular, and having only 50 couples made this a private yacht cruise.
