  • Olden - Briksdal Glacier by Troll Car

    Description

    Discover the breathtaking Briksdal Glacier, one of the many icy arms of Jostedalsbreen, Europe’s largest glacier. Cascading from 1,200 meters, Briksdal’s dramatic descent into the lush Briksdal Valley is a sight to behold.

    Departing from Olden, your journey will take you past picturesque churches and the stunning Floren and Olden lakes. At the valley’s end lies Rustøen, where numerous waterfalls tumble from the ice field above. The road then ascends through serene woodlands, leading to Briksdal Fjellstova, a charming mountain lodge.

    Here, you will board an open-air "Troll Car", which will take you on a scenic ride along a narrow road, crossing a rushing glacier stream and passing a powerful waterfall. Upon reaching the top of Briksdal Valley, take in the magnificent glacier views, framed by roaring waterfalls and towering peaks.

    You will have time to walk to the glacier lake at the base of Briksdal Glacier or simply enjoy the spectacular surroundings from the vantage point.

    After your visit, return to Briksdal Fjellstova, where a delightful cake buffet awaits before heading back to Olden.

    This tour involves a moderate level of activity and requires intermittent effort throughout. Guests may choose to participate in an optional walk of approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) round trip to the glacier lake. The path consists of dirt and gravel and is somewhat steep at the beginning before leveling out. Weather conditions may affect visibility, and rain gear is advised in case of changing conditions.   • Olden - Crayfishing & Cookout by RIB

    Description

    The Nordfjord has long provided both sustenance and stories for the communities that line its shores. On this intimate RIB experience, you are invited to take part in a local tradition that blends fjord exploration with shared culinary enjoyment.

    Departing from the pier in Olden, you board a RIB and glide across the calm, glacier-shaped waters of the Nordfjord. Towering mountains rise steeply from the water, their slopes carrying echoes of Viking tales and centuries of coastal life. Along the way, views toward Loen and the surrounding settlements add a gentle sense of place to the journey.
    Crayfish pots have already been set in the fjord, and guests are invited to assist as they are carefully pulled from the water, a hands-on moment that connects you directly to the traditions of the sea. Should the catch be modest, additional crayfish are prepared ashore to ensure the experience remains complete.

    Back on land, you gather at Mølla Gjestehus, where your crayfish are prepared over an open fire and served with fresh bread, butter, salad, and mayonnaise, accompanied by local cider or wine. The setting is informal and welcoming, encouraging conversation, laughter, and an appreciation for simple, well-prepared food.

  • Olden - Kayaking Along the Nordfjord

    Description

    The Nordfjord is at its most captivating when experienced from water level, where silence, reflection, and scale define the journey. On this guided kayaking experience, you glide across glacially carved fjord waters, framed by steep mountain walls, cascading waterfalls, and distant icefields.

    After a short walk from the ship, you are welcomed at the Olden Active base and introduced to your guide. Following a calm safety and paddling briefing, you set out in stable double kayaks designed for comfort and confidence. No prior kayaking experience is required , the pace is relaxed, with gentle instruction and support throughout.
    As you paddle along the fjord, your guide shares stories of Olden’s history, Viking influences, and the powerful glaciers that shaped this landscape over thousands of years. Several pauses are made along the route, allowing time to absorb the scenery, take photographs, and enjoy the quiet rhythm of the water.

    For added reassurance, a dedicated rescue boat follows the group throughout the experience, ensuring a high level of safety while preserving the sense of tranquility. This experience offers a quiet and immersive perspective on Olden’s dramatic landscape, combining gentle activity with the rare privilege of exploring the fjord at water level.

The experience involves a strenuous level of activity and requires approximately 2 hours of seated paddling. No prior kayaking experience is required; however, a basic level of fitness, mobility, and balance is necessary to enter the kayak from the dock and paddle independently. Guests will walk approximately 200 m (650 feet) each way between the pier and the Olden Active base over flat ground, taking about 5 minutes each direction. Tickets are sold per person based on a single seat in a double kayak.   • Olden - Olden Valley E-Bike Adventure

    Description

    Olden is a place best discovered at a gentle pace, where mountains rise steeply from the fjord and quiet roads lead deep into glacially carved valleys. This guided e-bike experience offers an engaging and environmentally conscious way to explore the region, combining light activity with striking scenery and local storytelling.

    After a short walk from the ship, you are welcomed at the Olden Active base for a safety briefing and bike fitting. High-quality electric-assist bicycles, featuring adjustable seating and multiple levels of pedal support, ensure a comfortable ride for both experienced cyclists and those new to biking. The electric assistance makes it easy to navigate the gentle, winding roads of Fjord Norway.

    Cycling through Olden Village and into the Olden Valley, you pass cascading waterfalls, the tranquil waters of Floen and Oldenvatnet lakes, and expansive views across the Nordfjord.   • Ålesund - Art Nouveau Kayak

    Description

    Ålesund reveals its beauty best from the water. On this leisurely guided sea kayaking experience, you discover one of Norway’s most distinctive coastal towns from a perspective few visitors enjoy — quietly gliding past elegant Jugend-style architecture, narrow canals, and the open sea beyond.

    A short walk from the pier brings you to the city’s kayak center, where you are warmly welcomed and fitted with all necessary equipment. Following a comprehensive safety briefing and introduction to the fundamentals of sea kayaking, you set off at a relaxed pace through sheltered waters along Ålesund’s waterfront. As you paddle, your knowledgeable guide shares stories of the town’s remarkable rebirth in Art Nouveau style after the great fire of 1904, as well as insights into the maritime heritage that continues to shape daily life here.

    Depending on weather and sea conditions, your route may lead through the historic Brosundet canal or extend into the surrounding archipelago and Borgundfjord. Islands, open water, and ever-changing coastal light frame the town in a striking natural setting.     After approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes on the water, you return to the kayak center to disembark, return equipment, and make use of changing facilities before walking back to the pier.

  • Ålesund - Charming Islands & Private Alnes Lighthouse Visit

    Description

    Venture beyond Ålesund to the windswept western islands of Giske and Godøy, where Viking history and Atlantic seascapes converge in a journey of legend and landscape.

    Travel by coach across striking bridges and a 4.2 km undersea tunnel to the storied island of Giske — known as “Saga Island,” birthplace of the Viking chieftain Rollo, who later founded Normandy in 911. A photo stop at Giske Church reveals Norway’s only marble medieval church, originally built in 1150 as a private chapel for one of the country’s most powerful noble families, viewed from the outside.

    Continuing westward to Godøy Island, the scenery shifts from fertile farmland to rugged Atlantic coastline. The fishing village of Alnes greets you with colorful cottages and open sea horizons.   • Ålesund - World War 2 bunker visit in the city mountain

    Description

    Hidden within the heart of Ålesund lies a place few were permitted to enter for nearly eight decades. Carved deep into the city mountain, this vast World War II bunker remained sealed to the public for 78 years before opening for guided visits in 2023.

    During the German occupation, Ålesund served as one of Norway’s most important convoy ports, resulting in extensive fortifications across the region. More than 800 military installations were constructed, including this bunker, the largest communication and command center between Bergen and Trondheim. After the war, the facility was maintained by Norwegian Civil Defense and preserved with minimal alteration, leaving much of its original structure and atmosphere intact.
    Accompanied by an expert guide, you descend through three interconnected levels of tunnels and chambers, linked by stairways and sloping passages. Along the way, original wartime features remain visible, providing a powerful sense of place and authenticity. The visit also includes two exclusive films created specifically for this site, offering deeper historical context and personal perspectives.

    This is a sober, thought-provoking experience, a rare opportunity to explore a preserved wartime facility that sheds light on Norway’s strategic importance, resilience, and lived history during one of Europe’s most turbulent periods.

    This tour involves a total walking distance of approximately 1 km (0.6 miles). Guests walk 10 minutes each way between the pier and the bunker entrance on paved surfaces with a gentle incline. Inside the bunker, there are multiple stairways, uneven ground, cobblestones, steps, and gradual slopes. Walking on uneven surfaces and stairs is required, and standing is required throughout the visit. The tour is not recommended for guests with walking difficulties and not wheelchair accessible. This tour may not be suitable for guests who are uncomfortable in confined or dimly lit spaces. The temperature inside the bunker is approximately 10°C (50°F).   • Måløy - Kayak Adventure

    Description

    Depart the pier in Måløy and travel by minibus to the coastal area of Vågsvågs, where the kayaking route begins. Upon arrival, meet your guide for a detailed introduction to paddling techniques and safety procedures. After receiving instructions and equipment, launch into the sheltered coastal waters and begin paddling in stable kayaks. The route follows a protected stretch of shoreline where small islands, rocky reefs, and narrow inlets shape the landscape. Moving steadily through calm water, participants paddle in close proximity to the rugged coastline while learning basic maneuvering and pacing under the guide’s supervision.

    Continue along the route for an extended paddling segment that follows the natural contours of the coastal environment. Short rest stops are made on the water, allowing time to regroup and observe the surrounding scenery from the kayaks. Throughout the journey, the guide maintains a steady pace suitable for participants without prior kayaking experience. The route remains within sheltered waters, offering a controlled environment for paddling while still providing clear views of the open coastal landscape beyond.

    After completing the kayaking route, return to the launch area where equipment is collected and the group prepares for the transfer back to Måløy. The minibus then follows the coastal road back to the pier, concluding the experience.

  • Måløy - Måløy Highlights

    Description

    Depart the pier in Måløy and travel along winding coastal roads in an electric minibus as the landscape opens to views of islands, rocky headlands, and the North Sea. The first stop is Kannesteinen, a distinctive mushroom-shaped rock formation created by centuries of wave erosion. A short walk along a gravel path leads to the shoreline where the stone rises from the coastal rocks. This unusual natural formation has become one of the region’s most recognized landmarks, shaped gradually by the persistent movement of wind and sea along Norway’s western coast.

    Continue along the coast to Hendanes Lighthouse, located on an exposed headland facing the open North Sea. A walk along a gravel road with a gentle incline leads to the lighthouse, where the elevated position provides wide views across the surrounding coastline and open water. From this windswept vantage point, the scale of the western Norwegian seascape becomes clear, with waves breaking against rocky shores and small islands scattered along the horizon.

    The journey then leads to Refviksanden, a long stretch of pale sandy beach that extends along the open coastline. Guests have time to walk across the sand and observe the contrast between the beach, surrounding mountains, and the sea. The final stop is Kvalheimsfjellet, reached by road, where an elevated viewpoint overlooks the North Sea and nearby islands. After taking in the sweeping coastal views, the drive returns along the scenic route back to the pier in Måløy.

    Guests should be prepared for walking covering approximately 1.5 km (0.9 miles) in total. The route includes a gravel path of approximately 50 meters (164 feet) at Kannesteinen and a gravel path of approximately 600 meters (656 yards) each way to Hendanes Lighthouse, where the road has a slight incline. Surfaces encountered during the tour include gravel paths, sand, asphalt, uneven natural ground, cobblestones, steps, and gradual slopes. Refvik Beach consists of sand and uneven terrain. The region’s coastal terrain may be uneven in places. Good walking shoes are recommended. Clothing suitable for changing weather conditions is advised, as the area can be windy and cold and visibility of sights may be affected in adverse weather conditions.   • Måløy - Mythic Selje Monastery

    Description

    Visit the thousand-year-old monastery on the island of Selja and uncover the inspiring story of Saint Sunniva, a courageous princess who became Norway’s first and only saint.
