Crotone Old Town & Wine Tasting

After departing the pier by coach with the guide, guests will reach the Crotone town center.Guests will reach the Crotone town center by coach. Crotone was long one of the most flourishing cities of Magna Graecia and the physicians of Crotone were considered the foremost among the Greeks. In Crotone, the mathematician Pythagoras founded his school, the Pythagoreans.

Piazza Pythagoras is the most important square of Crotone and a meeting point for citizens. It’s surrounded by porches built in the second half 800's; then walking through via Vittoria we arrive in the fruit market, before you will continue to view the Immacolata church followed by the National Archaeological Museum.

One of the best-known local products in this area is wine. A 30-minute drive will take you to Tenuta Rosaneti, a 155-hectare vineyard. It is the Librandi's largest estate, and probably the most well-known Calabrian winery. The estate is divided into countless smaller plots, clearly defined in terms of both soil and microclimate, from cooler areas with loose soil, ideal for varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, to warm and exposed clay hills, perfect for Magliocco. 80 hectares of olive groves can also be found here. Walking all the way to the top of the Rosaneti hills, you will enjoy a perfect view and take in Calabria's beauty: from the same point you can see both the beautiful Ionian Sea and the majestic Sila mountains with their often-snow-capped peaks. In between, countless beautiful villages clinging to the hilltops.
