Yachting Land Adventure

Korčula In Depth

Discover the island of Korcula, from one end to another, while learning about the crafts and history while showcasing the best that Korcula has to offer.

Start with a picturesque island drive of Korcula; 20 miles long and rather narrow, between 4 and 5 miles wide on average. This island is also known for its dense forest. Ancient Greeks called the island Black Korcula for this reason. Rich in art and culture; Korcula also features numerous secluded beaches and bays, plus a small and uninhabited Archipelago consisting of sixteen islets with breathtaking views from the top of the hills.

The island of Korčula has close to 1,000 olive farms and ten olive mills, with olive oil production being an important local economic activity. Visit the Zlokic family owned mill, known for being one of the leading olive oil producers on the island. The family’s personal collection of antiques boasts many old-fashioned tools for olive oil making, including a 15th century wooden olive press and an 18th century hydraulic compression system. As part of their facilities, the Zlokic Family has a “sports field” typical for Dalmatia where the traditional game “Boce” will be seen being played. The family’s oil mill covers 700 square meters and provides guests with an olive oil tasting to complete understanding of their elixir of the Gods.

After tasting the olive oil, you will travel to Blato for a visit of the Barilo Ethnographic Museum. This museum displays approximately 600 artifacts from a peasant home displayed in the kitchen and bedroom: showcasing everything from historic fishing equipment to costumes, tools, and everyday items. Here you will enjoy a taste of traditional Korčula sweets like sugared orange peel (arancini), sugar almonds, dry figs and liquor. Reflect on the history and culture of Korcula as you travel back to the yacht on your coach.
