Explore the Medieval Village of Hyeres, the most southerly of all of the French coastal resorts and discover its air of the Provence region. The old town of this little-known enclave has narrow medieval streets where the essence of Provencal life permeates everything around you. Check out the colorful street displays of fruits and vegetables, the cheese shop and its neighbor, the olive specialist waiting for you at the threshold of his shop.

On this immersive Yachting Land Adventure, you will drive toward the old town of Hyeres for a guided visit and free time for exploration. Here you won’t find the usual tourist crowds, instead you will come across the locals chatting in the shade of the city walls. Pause for a coffee or a local pastis, observe a colourful array of freshly washed linen drying in the windows, perfumed by the surrounding fragrances of Bougainvillea, freshly baked bread and aniseed biscuits. Famous footsteps from past visitors include Pauline Borghese, sister of Napoleon. Queen Victoria, Stevenson and Tolstoy all trying to escape harsh northern winters have built their sumptuous villas and palaces here.

Your guide will escort you on a discovery of this medieval town, located at the foot of a ruined feudal castle. In the main square, the heart of the town, is Massillon Square, the remains of the Tour Ste Blaise, built by the Knights of the Temple of Solomon around 1200 AD, tower above the daily market. Hyeres offers many handicraft, arts and fashionable boutiques. Discover many craftsmen and artists taking advantage of the architectural and urban heritage of this center full of history and culture. See some of the artists’ studios, glassblowing, potter craftsman and many more along the walking route. At Massillon Square you will pause for a refreshment in a local brasserie and have free time to explore on your own before returning to the yacht at the pier.
