Depart the pier via air-conditioned motor coach for a brief 30-minute panoramic drive to Oporto. The city of Oporto, built along the hillsides overlooking the mouth of the Douro River, is an outstanding urban landscape with a 1,000-year history. During your journey, view the façade of the Clerigos Church and Tower, a Baroque building of the 18th century and drive by the 12th-century Romanesque Cathedral and admire its beautiful architecture.
Proceed to the banks of the Douro River, where you will embark a traditional riverboat known as a Rabelo and enjoy an approximate 1-hour cruise. During your river cruise, admire the beautiful architecture of the bridges and houses that form a staircase down the hills. Clinging to the opposite bank of the Douro River and nestled between one of the six impressive bridges is the city of Vila Nova de Gaia. This is the port wine capital of the world.
Disembark your vessel and proceed to Vila Nova de Gaia and visit a distinguished port wine cellar. On the south bank of the Douro River, Vila Nova de Gaia is home to more than 50 wine companies. Here, your informative guide will explain the winemaking process, and you will enjoy a sampling of this regional specialty of red and white port wine. After an enjoyable river cruise and the tasting of fine wines, return to the pier and to your yacht.
Notes: Guests must be 18 years or older in order to consume alcoholic beverages. Guests must be able to embark and disembark both the motor coach and the riverboat, with steps to negotiate at the bus and at the boat. Approximately 1 km of walking is required over the course of the tour, including about 15 minutes each way between the boat and the wine cellars. This tour is not suitable for wheelchair users. The drive to and from Oporto is approximately 45 minutes each way.
A minimum number of participants is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures, and some may have limited capacity.
