Begin your SeaDream Land Adventure with a scenic drive from Sète to Montpellier, a lively city shaped by centuries of trade, culture, and scholarship. Founded in the 13th century, Montpellier’s university is one of Europe’s oldest and is especially renowned for its medical school. Upon arrival, enjoy a guided walking tour through the historic old town, where medieval streets from the 12th century blend with elegant 17th and 18th century architecture. Time permitting, you may pause at the bustling Place de la Comédie, the city’s central square and a favorite gathering spot for locals.
Your journey continues with a short drive to Château d’Engarran, a magnificent 18th century estate surrounded by a three hectare French style park. Classified as a historical monument, the château was built in 1730 by Jean Vassal and has remained in the same family for five generations. During your visit, explore the estate’s beautifully preserved grounds and learn about its long winemaking tradition. The château’s architecture and gardens offer a glimpse into the elegance of the period, making this stop a highlight for guests who appreciate history, culture, and authentic regional heritage.
Following your guided visit, enjoy a tasting of three estate wines accompanied by light snacks such as spreads, breadsticks, and cheese. This relaxed moment provides an opportunity to savor the flavors of the region while taking in the peaceful surroundings of the château. After the tasting, rejoin your coach for the comfortable return drive to Sète. Notes: This tour includes a one-hour walking tour in Montpellier, through the old part of the city, on mostly flat surfaces, and guests should be comfortable walking and standing for extended periods. The tour is not recommended for guests who use wheelchairs or have significant mobility limitations. Comfortable, flat walking shoes are strongly advised due to cobblestones and uneven pavement in the old town. The drive between Sète and Montpellier is approximately 45 minutes each way, with an additional short transfer to the château. A minimum participation is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures, and some may have limited capacity. All adventures in the SeaDream Yachting Land Adventures program are subject to change, and final departure times will be published on board.
