Casablanca and the Grand Mosque - Day 1

Casablanca and the Grand Mosque - Day 1

See the Best of Casablanca, including the Hassan II Grand Mosque, on this comprehensive half day exploration.

Casablanca, founded in 1515 by the Portuguese, is now an expanding and dynamic metropolis, with wide avenues lined by modern buildings of typical European style. Your tour begins with an inside visit of the Hassan II Mosque, second largest in size after the holy mosque of Mecca.

Afterward, enjoy a drive along the panoramic coastal road (the Corniche). On this drive you will cross the residential quarter of Anfa and Ain Diab, a tourist area with splendid swimming pools hidden among the rocks, and lots of restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Observe the elegant buildings of the Anfa and Maarif neighborhood, grand avenues, and architecture that blends modern and Moorish styles. Enjoy a refreshment stop, sampling mint tea and Moroccan pastries before continuing your tour.

Stop by the Mohamed V Square, in the heart of the city and infused with locals, visitors and thousands of pigeons. Continue to Habbous Quarters for a visit of the Royal Palace esplanade (outside only) and the small streets with alleys known for its typical handicraft shops. At the end of the tour will be some free time for shopping at the United Nations Square before returning to your yacht in port.

Notes: Mind your belongings at all times, particularly in crowded places. Conservative dress is required inside the Mosque - men must have long pants and shoulders covered, and women must have minimum knee length garments and their shoulders covered. Guests will be invited to take off their shoes inside the mosque so easy shoes to remove and put back on are recommended. Socks are highly recommended inside the mosque. This tour involves an extensive amount of walking and the tour sequence may vary. A minimum participation is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures, and some may have limited capacity. All adventures in the SeaDream Yachting Land Adventures and Nat Geo programs are subject to change. Final departure times will be published on-board.
