Naxos Island is the largest island in the Cyclades and it is one of the most beautiful among the Greek Islands. It combines superb fine sand beaches, fertile valleys and mountainous beauty. Naxos has a rich historical tradition. The passing of the Venetians through Naxos left ineffaceably its mark on the cultural, religious and social life of the island. Board your coach for a 50-minute drive to Apeiranthos village. Apeiranthos is a picturesque mountain village with a beautiful name meaning “plenty of flowers”. Its architecture is very impressive with the Venetian influence evident. One can see houses with coats of arms above their doors and there are also some ornate balconies on view. As you walk around the streets you will notice the marble under your feet and look out for the church of Panagia Aperathitissa which is one of the oldest on the island. Here you will also visit the Geological Museum, small but extremely impressive, with a vast collection of over 2000 stones, minerals and fossils found on the island through various excavations. The collection of rocks and stones is not limited to those only found in Greece but extends to other parts of the world as well. One can see apart from the "emery", the most precious metal in Naxos, obsidian blades from Milos, pumice from Santorini, volcanic minerals from Mounts Vesuvius and Etna, bauxite and cyanide from Brazil and also mineral rock from Meteorites. Following your visit to Apeiranthos re-board your coach for the return trip to your SeaDream yacht.
