Join this Madeira Cooking Experience with a local Chef Luisa who is passionate about her food. She will share with you how to cook the typical Madeiran ingredients with a young and fresh twist. Discover the people and flavors of Madeira you won’t ever forget. Uncover the local food, the people and the market from Chef Luisa’s personal point of view.

Depart the pier by van towards the local market, where an infinite variety of tropical fruits, vegetables, flowers, as well as regional crafts can be seen. The lower half of the market is dedicated to fish; depending on the season you may see fresh tuna or Madeira’s famous black scabbard fish. A visit to this market is always interesting and full of surprises. Here you will also catch a glimpse of the day to day life of the Madeiran people. Stops are made to taste and try some local fruit in season, while buying ingredients for your local cooking experience.

Continue to Armazém do Mercado, located behind the market. This historic building was recently renovated and now looks very modern and attractive. Inside is a diverse collection of pop-up stores, cafes and restaurants. This is where Chef Luisa will share her cooking expertise and some valuable tips as you work together preparing the products of Madeira. At the conclusion of the lesson is when you will taste the flavors and products of Madeira you have created under the guidance of Chef Luisa.
