NAT GEO DAY TOUR: Cooking with the Mujo's

Learn about the history and heritage of life in Lovorno, Croatia as you are immersed in the daily life of your hosts, the Mujo family. You will enjoy an exclusive welcome into their home for a visit where you will join them at a special lunch that you help prepare.

Journey along the Adriatic road, past Zvekovica and on to the village of Lovorno, situated in at the foot of Snijeznica Mountain. Upon your arrival in the village, you’ll receive a warm welcome from your hosts on this unique tour, the Mujo family, who will welcome you into their home for a special visit for National Geographic travelers. Partake in a welcome drink with family members—which numbers 18 members over 3 generations—who will make you feel like an honorary Mujo! Hear about what life looked like some 50 or more years ago as the mother and father share stories of their lives, which includes raising 3 sons and daughters-in-law and 10 grandchildren.

Following your welcome, join the family in their private garden where you will pick tomatoes, onions and other fresh ingredients needed for the preparation of a special lunch.

After the garden, head into the kitchen and roll up your sleeves where you’ll put your hands to good use—by making dough for your own bread. Once finished and the bread is baking, you’ll help prepare the rest of the meal. Then, savor some delicious local wine, or as it is known, “sunlight trapped in water.”

After you and the Mujo family break bread over an amazing lunch featuring traditional cuisine made from the locally sourced food you helped prepare, gather together with family members who will share fascinating tales of their family’s rich history—especially about their participation in the Konavle rebellion and its outcome. They’ll also show you a copy of the document from the archives which offers precious proof of the Mujo family’s importance to the Dubrovnik Republic.

Notes: This Yachting Land Adventure must be booked 72 Hours (3 days) prior to arrival in the port to confirm its operation during your voyage. Please book on the Seadream.com website, or onboard, early to avoid disappointment. Cancellations after the deadline are non-refundable. A minimum participation is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures and some have limited capacity. All adventures in the SeaDream Yachting Land Adventures or Nat Geo programs are subject to change. Final departure time will be announced on board.
