Set amidst the cool hills of the Esclans Valley, this historic estate dates back to before the 12th century. Though only the original cellars remain from the medieval château, the land’s legacy is as rich as its wines.
Since 2006, Sacha Lichine, alongside Patrick Léon, former Managing Director of Mouton Rothschild, has transformed Château d’Esclans into a global icon. Their vision: to craft the greatest rosé in the world, and in doing so, they launched what many consider the "renaissance of rosé."
The estate is particularly known for its old-vine Grenache, some planted over a century ago, which is hand-harvested at sunrise and blended with Vermentino. The winery’s top cuvées, many of which are oak-aged, are celebrated for their complexity and ability to age gracefully.
Château d’Esclans’ most famous wine, Whispering Angel, is now a global phenomenon. First produced in 2006, this elegantly dry rosé—with its delicate aroma and bright, clean finish—has become the benchmark for premium rosé wines worldwide.

Created in 2006 when the Chateau was acquired by Sacha Lichine, this wine is dry on the palate, with great aromatic intensity, the nose is clean, perfect for a wide variety of dishes. Sacha’s ambition was to create the best rosés in the world, thus initiating the “renaissance of rosé”. New and innovative winemaking methods were introduced, changing completely the styles of rosés produced in this region.
