Meet the Crew: Q&A with Jamie

Jamie

As part of our dedication to the perfect yachting journey, we would like to introduce you to the people who make us #1 for our award-winning service on the seas. This week we are pleased to introduce you to Jamie, our Club Director on board SeaDream I. After several stints sailing with the “big cruise lines” he took some time to explore the Rhine and Danube River valleys and travel to many of the smaller, quieter towns throughout Europe. Since 2019, Jamie has called SeaDream home, and counts his ever-changing daily experiences and interactions with guests as the reason no two days are ever alike. We are proud to call Jamie a valued member of the SeaDream family.

Q: Where is your favorite place to travel in the Caribbean—and why?

A: I would have to say my favorite place is the Caribbean is St. Barths. I love the great beaches, local, flavorful cuisine, high-end dining establishments, and interesting hiking options, which the guests and I explore together. I also love the small intimate islands we visit, including Mayreau, Norman Island, and Jost van Dyke—for our signature Champagne and Caviar Splash®—as each island offers something special.

Q: Where is your favorite place to travel in the Mediterranean—and why?

A: This is a tough question for me to answer, as I love being in the Mediterranean. Each country offers something different—great food, an abundance of history, and welcoming people. I always get very excited being in Monaco and the South of France. It just has a very special atmosphere and incredible views wherever you turn, not to mention yacht-filled harbors and secluded islands along breathtaking coastlines. Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast is also high up on my list, because we seldom see another ship in sight and visit only small island gems, where we often dock just steps away from Old Towns and in the heart of serene harbors.

Q: What does “It’s Yachting, Not Cruising®” mean to you?

A: The phrase has many different meanings to me. I love the small number of guests that we embrace, the unique ports, islands, and towns we are able to visit due to the nimbleness of our yachts. Having sailed with SeaDream for a while now, I still love the fact that every embarkation day I see familiar faces; it is like seeing old friends and family time and again. In addition, having the flexibility to offer guests walks, hikes, and bike rides, taking small groups out for experiences they would usually not do is truly something that I treasure.

Q: What is it that you love most about SeaDream?

A: I think my favorite part of being with SeaDream is our amazing crew on both yachts. Working in such a small environment means you become family very quickly. We always look out for each other and try to make each day more fun than the last. I also love seeing guests I have sailed with before; hosting dinner most evenings is also a great way for me to get to know people (and enjoy our incredible food served every night).
