Guacamole Dip
Guacamole is a creamy and flavorful dip or spread made primarily from mashed avocados, often combined with lime juice, salt, and other fresh ingredients like tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and jalapeños. It originates from Mexico and is a staple in Mexican cuisine, traditionally served with tortilla chips, tacos, or as a side dish. The name comes from the Nahuatl (Aztec language) words "āhuacatl" (avocado) and "mōlli" (sauce), meaning "avocado sauce." Known for its rich, buttery texture and bright flavors, guacamole is a popular and versatile accompaniment worldwide. Serve with tortilla chips, fresh vegetables, or as a topping to fish or steak.
Ingredients:
3 ripe avocados
1 small lime (juice only)
¼ cup red onion, finely chopped
1–2 small Roma tomatoes, diced (optional, seeds removed)
2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
1 small jalapeño, finely chopped (optional, seeds removed for less heat)
½ tsp garlic, minced (or ¼ tsp garlic powder)
Salt, to taste
Instructions:
Prepare Avocados: Slice avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a bowl.
Mash: Use a fork or potato masher to mash the avocados to your desired texture (chunky or smooth).
Mix Ingredients: Add lime juice, red onion, tomatoes, cilantro, jalapeño, garlic, and salt. Gently mix until combined.
Adjust Seasoning: Taste and adjust with more lime juice or salt if needed.
Serve: Serve immediately with tortilla chips, tacos, or as a topping for your favorite dishes.
