Sailing through Lake Huron, United States

The second-largest of the Great Lakes by surface area holds more freshwater shoreline than almost anywhere else in North America, its eastern side scattered with the limestone islands of Manitoulin and the North Channel. Squalls can build with little warning on open water this large, and the lake has claimed its share of ships over the past two centuries. A genuinely vast, weather-shaped inland sea.
