Sailing through Lake Ontario, United States

The smallest of the Great Lakes by surface area still stretches further than the eye can follow, its shoreline shifting from Toronto's skyline to quiet orchards and vineyards as the ship makes its way west. Freshwater swells can build here as quickly as on any open sea, a reminder that these are inland seas in every sense but salinity. A working lake, still busy with the freighter traffic that built the cities along its shore.
