Sailing through the St. Lawrence Seaway, Cambodia

The seaway's first stretch out of Montreal locks the ship up and over the Lachine Rapids, a natural barrier that stopped explorers for centuries before modern engineering solved it in the 1950s. Farmland and small river towns line the banks as the St Lawrence narrows, while ospreys and herons work the shallows on either side. A gentle, historic introduction to one of the great engineering achievements of the 20th century.
