Sailing through Lake Huron & Lake Michigan, United States

Two of the five Great Lakes meet at the Straits of Mackinac, joined so completely that they are technically a single body of water, spanned by one of the longest suspension bridges in the world. Sand dunes rise along the Michigan shore in places, an unlikely desert landscape a stone's throw from some of the coldest water in North America. A long, open-water crossing between two genuinely inland seas.
