Sailing through the Soo Locks & St. Marys River, United States

The busiest lock system by tonnage in North America lifts and lowers ships between Lake Superior and Lake Huron, a chokepoint the entire Great Lakes iron-ore and grain trade has depended on for well over a century. Twin cities, one Canadian, one American, share the riverbank on either side of the locks. A working piece of industrial history, still very much in daily use.
