SEADREAM AND SEAWARE

SeaDream Yacht Club Signs Dream Software For
Reservations, Sales, Marketing and Revenue Management

SeaDream Yacht Club is in the business of thinking small and thinking smart. To lower cost and increase efficiency---a mantra for all companies these days---it has only a total of 12 persons in its Coconut Grove, Florida worldwide headquarters. Even its Chairman and CEO Larry Pimentel has been known to take reservations by telephone.
Commenting on SeaDream’s entrepreneurial business model, Pimentel says that one way of thinking small and smart is to judiciously outsource to experts. “A case in point,” he says is “is that we have outsourced our technology requirements. We do not employ any information technology personnel, yet we are on the leading edge with our website and our reservations system.”
That’s how SeaDream---which sells yacht-only luxury holidays---and SeaWare got together.
Recently SeaDream signed an agreement to license and install SeaWare, an innovative passenger shipping industry software system, from Versonix, leading Silicon Valley systems solutions provider. SeaWare, a fully integrated system, is also capable of handling tour, hotel, air and other types of reservations.
“SeaWare will provide us with a simple, user-friendly reservations system with powerful sales, marketing and revenue/ yield management capabilities,” Pimentel says. “In simple terms, this is what SeaWare will do for SeaDream:
• “At the highest luxury end of the leisure business customer service is everything and the more you know your customer’s desires, whims and preferences, the better able you are to provide exemplary service. SeaWare will provide us with customer profiling information that will assist our onboard staff to anticipate our guests’ wishes.
• “As with most things these days, speed is of the essence. SeaWare operates in real time and equally important, changes can be made to sales and marketing information by our staff without calling in a computer programmer to get the job done.
• “Yield and revenue management is a high priority for all companies. With a small company like SeaDream Yacht Club it is absolutely essential. SeaWare gives us a decided edge with its speed and flexibility.
• “Another strong point is that SeaWare is Internet-ready from inception, adds Pimentel.
In commenting on SeaDream and SeaWare, Yuri Polissky, Chief Operating Officer for Versonix, adds: “We are delighted to have SeaDream as our client. SeaWare works well for large and small cruise lines alike. Its extensive customer profiling, simple and flexible sales and marketing mechanism, and revenue management capabilities provide SeaDream with a complete solution for their business and with ability to change or adjust the system to their business needs on the fly. While SeaDream will use only a small portion of SeaWare software the system is ideal for full integration with tour and land product offerings.”
SeaDream Yacht Club is the new Yachting venture by Norwegian entrepreneur Atle Brynestad who founded Seabourn Cruise Line and Larry Pimentel who was president of Seabourn under Brynestad and later president and CEO of the merged Cunard and Seabourn. Pimentel is Chairman and CEO of the Coconut Grove, Florida-headquartered SeaDream Yacht Club and a co-owner. The company operates two ultra-luxury, mega yachts, SeaDream I and SeaDream II.
