Yachting Land Adventures & Activities

  • Portimao, Algarve - Portimão Heritage & Sardine Tasting

    Description

Begin with a panoramic drive through Portimão, passing key areas of the city before arriving at Praia da Rocha. Here, pause for photographs and enjoy time at leisure along this well-known coastal setting. Souvenir shopping is available during the stop before continuing to the Museum of Portimão, housed in the restored Féu fish-canning factory beside the Arade River. The museum preserves the city’s industrial, maritime, and ethnographic heritage, with collections connected to fishing, canning, shipbuilding, stowage, lithography, foundry work, transportation, and local archaeology.

During the guided museum visit, explore the permanent exhibition “Portimão – Territory and Identity,” which traces the development of the municipality and its community. Displays and preserved industrial spaces illustrate the importance of the canning industry and the working traditions that shaped Portimão’s economy and relationship with the river and sea. The museum also includes archaeological material recovered from terrestrial and underwater sites throughout the municipality. Recognized with the Council of Europe Museum Award in 2010, it was distinguished for its presentation of work-related heritage.

Continue to a local restaurant for a tasting of a traditional sardine tapa accompanied by one glass of wine. This final stop introduces one of the products closely associated with Portimão’s fishing and canning history, connecting the museum visit with the city’s local gastronomy. Restrooms are available at the restaurant, and the tasting area is reached over flat, cobblestoned terrain. After the tasting, walk back to the waiting coach and return directly to the pier.

    Notes

The Portimão Museum visit includes 10–15 steps, and cobblestones are present at various sites; comfortable shoes are therefore recommended. The tour is not accessible to guests with limited mobility. Guests must be 18 years or older to be served alcohol. The museum is housed in a former fish-canning factory, and parts of the exhibition focus on industrial processes, fishing, maritime trades, and local working life.

  • Seville - Captivating Cordoba

    Description

Leave Seville behind and embark on a scenic drive through the Andalusian countryside towards the historical city of Cordoba.
Cordoba was once the largest and probably the most beautiful city in the world. It is a city that demonstrates a past where Jewish, Christian and Muslim’s peacefully co-existed and left a beautiful legacy of architecture to be appreciated for centuries to come.
Cross the Guadalquivir River via the Roman Bridge and enter the city close to the Mesquita (Grand Mosque) which is one of the largest Mosque’s in the world. When the city was re-conquered by the Christians they were so impressed by the beauty of the mosque that, rather than demolish it they simply built a Cathedral inside it. Weave your way through the arches and columns to discover this stunning and bizarre piece of art and architecture.
Step back out into the city for a walk around the Historic Quarter – La Juderia. Once the home of the Jewish Community, it is an intricate network of narrow and winding streets lined with flower filled patios and traditional buildings hiding just around the corner. Make a visit to the Mudejar Synagogue which is one of only 3 remaining Synagogues in Spain.

Lunch will be served in a local restaurant and afterwards enjoy some free time to shop for souvenirs or simply take a last look at the city before returning to Seville and your SeaDream yacht.

  • Puerto Banus, Marbella - Ronda Wine Experience

    Description

Discover one of Spain’s oldest cities, located in the Andalusian mountains and 750 meters above sea level, Ronda stills displays aspects of its ancient Roman origins. This historical town has been a much loved destination for many painters, architects and creative artists; including Orson Welles and Ernest Hemingway.

The best way to explore Ronda is on foot and throughout your guided walking tour you will pass several of the city’s highlights; including the ‘Puente Nuevo’ (New Bridge), which alongside the bull ring is said to symbolize the soul of the city. Having visited the city center, you will discover one unique wine cellar in the area. “Descalzos Viejos” (the aged barefoot monks), was founded in the year 2000 and specially restored for the purpose of wine-making by the architects Francisco Retamero and Flavio Salesi and their respective wives, Chelo Porras and Mariela Grana. It is situated in the chapel of a sixteenth century Trinitarian monastery. In this building, perched on the higher slopes of the impressive Tajo of Ronda (the famous Gorge), they make wine from the 5.5 hectares of vineyards that have been planted on this property, and other 5 hectares in ward. During the visit, you will taste three types of wines, accompanied with some snacks.
