    Description

Your guide will await you on the pier to show you around the village of Saint Tropez. The sightseeing discovery starts with a nice walk along the pier, passing by the most famous café “Senequier” arriving to the very tiny bay from where the visitors will enjoy the view. • Roses, Costa Brava - Discover Dali`s Surrealistic World

    Description

Artist Salvador Dali (1904-1989) became a cultural icon for the bizarre and surreal. He was born in Catalonia and here he created his Theatre-Museum. On this Land Adventure we take a 50-minute drive to Figueres to visit this unique attraction. Inaugurated in 1974, the Dali Theatre-Museum was built atop the remains of the former Theatre of Figueres, and contains a broad spectrum of works covering the career of the artist, from his early artistic experiences and his creations within the sphere of surrealism through to works dating from the last years of his life. Some of the most outstanding works on exhibition there are Port Alguer (1924), The Spectrum of Sex Appeal (1932), Soft Self-Portrait with Fried Bacon (1941), Poetry from America, the Cosmic Athletes (1943), Galarina (1944-45), The Bread Basket (1945), Atomic Leda (1949) and Galatea of the Spheres (1952). We might also note the sets of work the artist created expressly for the Theatre-Museum, such as the Mae West room, the Palace of the Wind room, Monument to Francesc Pujols and Rainy Cadillac. The Dali Theatre-Museum has to be seen as a whole, as the great work of Salvador Dali, since it was conceived of and designed by the artist in order to offer visitors a genuine experience that would take them into his entrancing and unique world. The exhibition of Dali's Jewels, which is permanent, includes the thirty-seven jewels in gold and precious stones from the old Owen Cheatham collection, two jewels made later, and the twenty-seven drawings and paintings on paper that Salvador DalU made in designing the jewels. The whole forms an extensive collection of works carried out by the artist between 1941 and 1970, providing a perfect illustration of the various phases of his artistic development. All the pieces in the collection are unique items, and the combination of materials, dimensions and shapes used by Salvador Dali make this a one-off set in which the artist managed to express in a unique way the wealth of his singular iconography. Gold, platinum, precious stones (diamonds, rubies, emeralds, sapphires, aquamarines, topazes, etc.), pearls, corals and other noble materials combine to form hearts, lips, eyes, plant and animal forms, religious and mythological symbols and anthropomorphic forms.

  • Roses, Costa Brava - Greatest Girona

    Description

The provincial capital of Girona, one of the most historical places in Spain, is located about 45 miles from Roses. Although now quite a large city, it has retained most of its compact old medieval quarter virtually intact, including the historic fortifications - now laid out as an attractive public garden - and the former Jewish Quarter. After your coach transfer from Roses, your local guide will take you on a walk to reach the old city and its magnificent Cathedral of Santa Maria, reached by a monumental Baroque flight of steps. The cathedral dates largely from the 14th century and is notable for having the widest Gothic nave of any church in the world: it has no columns or side-aisles and its vault has a span of 75 feet. Inside the cathedral are valuable treasures including the so-called Girona Tapestry, a Romanesque panel of needlework from the 11th century that depicts the Creation and includes representations of the Sun, Moon and months of the year. Leaving the cathedral, your guide will take you into the former Jewish Quarter, known as El Call, which was the home of the city’s Jews from 890AD until their expulsion by the Catholic Monarchs in 1492. The narrow streets and old stone houses still testify to the Jewish community’s long presence in Girona. Pause in this historic district for a glass of Cava, the local sparkling wine, accompanied by appetizers before returning to Roses and your SeaDream yacht.

    Description

Start your Land Adventure with a leisurely drive through the countryside, dotted with windmills and farms, which brings you to the Caves of Drach, a spectacular underground attraction. The caves contain many strangely shaped stalactites and stalagmites, reflecting in the clear pools. It's a beautifully eerie sight, as is Martell Lake, one of the world's largest subterranean lakes, which shimmers provocatively in the human-made lights from above. After emerging from the caves, you will witness another phenomenon, the highly prized Mallorca pearls being made in a factory. These faux pearls, made from natural marine products, are nearly indistinguishable from the real thing. Afterwards, you'll travel back to your SeaDream yacht.
