Ports

  • Nice

Nice is the fifth most populous city in France and the second largest on the Mediterranean coast. The city's famous seaside promenade, the Promenade des Anglais ('the Walkway of the English') owes its name to the earliest settlers to this seaside resort. For over a quarter century, the picturesque Nicean surroundings have attracted not only those in search of relaxation but also those seeking inspiration. SeaDream docks in the small port and offers several land adventure options as well as private arrangements and transfers.

  • Saint-Tropez

Saint-Tropez located on the French Riviera quite simply may be the most famous resort town in Europe. It is a playground for the fashion models, athletes, movie stars, entertainers and other extremely wealthy summertime guests. There’s much to offer in this resort town, shopping, nightlife (Byblos hotel’s Les Caves du Roy nightclub) exceptional beach clubs such as Le Club 55 and Nikki Beach at Pampelonne. Nearby you can explore some of the hill towns and visit the award winning rose wineries. You can also visit neighboring Grimaud and Port Grimaud or just a little further out golf at a few highly rated courses. SeaDream anchors just off the break wall and tenders directly to the pier downtown.

  • Sanary-sur-Mer

Sanary-sur-Mer is a Provencal village located in the Var department in the Provences-Alpes-Côtes d'Azur region of France. Most visitors fall in love with the town shortly after they arrive. The harbor has several traditional wooden boats called “pointus” that are used by the fisherman daily. They sell their catch each morning on the harbor front. Market day is always a special treat so plan accordingly. The nearby village of Bandol has some of the oldest vineyards in France. It’s an easy bike ride down the coast from Sanary-sur-Mer. Other options include a land adventure to the nearby town of Castellet a typical hilltop village where you can explore and have a nice wine tasting. Golf at De La Fregate as well as water sports are also on option here.

  • Collioure

Collioure is surely the most picturesque coastal resort on the Mediterranean coast of South-West France. With the backdrop of the Pyrenees mountains tumbling into the sea, the old harbour, the impressive castle, wonderful old churches, beach-side restaurants, narrow old streets, bijou boutiques, art trails and three beaches. Collioure was first settled by the Phoenicians and Greeks as a trading port and, since then, has been occupied by Romans, Barbarians, Arabs, Spaniards (at least 4 times) and finally after the Treaty of the Pyrenees in 1659, the French. The Knights Templars, built Collioure's impressive castle (Chateau-Royal) in the 12th Century and this was later used as a residence for the Kings of Mallorca. Collioure still makes a healthy living from its salted anchovies that are exported all over France.

  • Tarragona

In this bustling city, Roman history is mingled with gorgeous beaches, high-end bars, and a food setting that fills the boardwalks with unimaginable culinary aromas. Perhaps its biggest allures are the ruins of a seaside amphitheater and a mosaic-decorated museum, historical emblems made for inquisitive exploring. Don’t forget to savor the medieval center of Tarragona by visiting the towering Romanesque Cathedral and grab a bite at any eatery that tickles your taste buds.

  • Palma de Mallorca, Balearic Islands

Situated on the southern coast of Mallorca, the largest city in the Balearic Islands archipelago is Palma. Mallorca’s cultural and economic hub is the 12th largest urban area in all of Spain. Palma has an area of 21.4 square kilometers, housing half the population of Mallorca and despite being compared to Barcelona and Florence, it is twinned with Naples, Italy. In 1983, Palma officially became the capital of the Balearic Islands. Originally founded by General Quintus Caecilius Metellus as a Roman camp in 123 B.C.E., the island of Mallorca was a part of the Tarraconensis province of Spain. The Romans established two ports, Pollentia to the northeast and Palma in the south. Palma was utilized as a port for Africa, while Pollentia was used for Roman cities in the northwest Mediterranean. Prior to the Muslim conquest and downfall of the Western Roman Empire, existed a period where the Byzantine Empire was on Mallorca. Due to the lack of documentation, the nature of this presence is unknown, but for the 10th century to 1229 A.D., Palma was under Islamic control as “Medina Mayurqa”. When James I of Aragon captured Palma in 1229, it was given municipality as “Cuitat de Mallorca”, and maintained as the capital of the Kingdom of Majorca. Perpignan and Palma became a joint capital of the Kingdom once James I of Aragon passed away. From 1229 onward, the foundations of Mallorcan society began to flourish, although various war-like events would soon take place. In 1391 began an anti-Jewish movement that forced the Jewish people to flee, convert, or be killed – actions that would ultimately be reinforced in the Inquisition. While the Revolt of 1450 was occurring, it was farmers that were then harassed. A river that divided the city would eventually spur social and economic issues as an Upper and Lower town of the city would be established. Mallorca was on the decline by the 16th century, and became a haven for pirates by the 17th century. Finally, the War of the Spanish Succession ended and destroyed the Crown of Aragon in 1714 when Barcelona fell. The city would eventually begin to thrive again as Charles III of Spain allowed commercial activity to bounce back by removing interdiction of commerce with the Spanish colonies in America. Once Algeria became occupied by France, fear of Maghredi attacks were eliminated, allowing further economic expansion with new maritime routes surfacing. Since 1950, Mallorca has become a prime tourist destination, growing from 600,000 visitors in 1960 to 19.2 million visitors by 2001. Tourists can view the old city, Arab baths, Palma Cathedral, Bellver Castle, or simply indulge in the beautiful Playa de S’amarador. For a glorious, picturesque scene of mountains, be sure to visit the Serra de Tramuntana and explore the UNESCO location overlooking the sea.

  • Alicante

  • Cartagena

Cartagena was founded in the 3rd century BC and has been a major naval station. It is located in the Region of Murcia, southeastern Spain. Thanks to its strategic position on the Mediterranean, Cartagena has been inhabited by many different cultures which have left their mark on its rich cultural heritage during a glorious and turbulent history. It’s a very pleasant and relaxing city to walk around. SeaDream makes it easy is the yacht docks in the center of town. Guests have an option of a walking discovery adventure as well as resort golf at La Manga. Some guests also enjoy independent usage of the mountain bikes.

  • Malaga

Malaga, together with adjacent towns and municipalities such as Rincon de la Victoria, Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Alhaurin de la Torre, Mijas, and Marbella, forms the Malaga Metropolitan area. The important cultural infrastructure and the rich artistic heritage have culminated in the nomination of Malaga as a candidate for the 2016 European Capital of Culture. The internationally acclaimed painter and sculptor Pablo Picasso and actor Antonio Banderas were both born in Malaga. SeaDream calls to Malaga both as an embarkation point as well as a typical port of call. Kindly check on the land adventures tab to see all of the activities and options. • Tarragona - The Wine Cathedral

    Description

In the early 1900’s, after hundreds of years of family-owned winemaking and planting, the Nulles locals decide to pool their resources and expertise together to create the San Isidro Trade Union and build a superb winery called the Nulles Wine Cathedral. This Yachting Land Adventure explores the intricacies of the region from the land, to the cellar and ultimately table commemorating this experience with an in-depth wine tasting pared with regional delicacies.

Learn about the history and accomplishments of Adernats Wines & Cava; a modernist winery since 1917. Located in Nulles, a territory where time passes slowly, the Wine Cathedral was built of stone and brick walls, containing wines and cavas gathered from the local wine farms. This structure was designed by the architect Cesar Martinell. The winery is the pride and emblem of a town that writes its history with wine.

In Nulles the vineyard is also the basis of fine winemaking. They understand that only the best grapes will produce the best wines, which is why the work of the winemaker begins in the field with the farmers. Knowing the soil and the climate that characterizes them makes it possible to obtain unique wines; wines that are an expression of their region.
The warm, temperate, typically Mediterranean climate work exceptionally well growing the native white varieties of the area, Macabeo, Xarel·lo and Moscatel. However, they have been working on other varieties such as Parellada and Chardonnay in white, and Ull de LLebre and Merlot in red with great success. The roots, which feed on a very rich clay and lime soil but bathed in few rains, give lower but more concentrated grape yields, which provide a distinctive intensity to the wines.

This Yachting Land Adventure enables you to visit this remarkable place and enjoy a wine and food paring during the experience. Do not miss this opportunity to visit this modernist jewel through its unique wines and sensory experiences.

  • Malaga - Discover the Alhambra

    Description

Discover the Alhambra, a dramatic highlight of historic Granada on this amazing land adventure. The city is beautiful in its own right, but nothing compares to the wealth of architectural art found in the city’s MuslimHispano complex, the 14th-century Alhambra. This example of Muslim architecture is completely encircled by walls and towers. Palaces, military buildings, a fortress, and the administrative centers of a bygone era all lie protected within. Explore this remarkable structure and marvel at the detailed mosaics, prism-style cupolas, and stone-cast latticework. The nearby Generalife, surrounded by water gardens, was the residence of kings in refuge. The stunning El Vino Gate was built in the purest Renaissance style of the 16th-century. By special SeaDream arrangement, typical Spanish tapas with wine and dessert will be provided at the Parador de Granada restaurant, located inside the Alhambra.

    Notes

*** IMPORTANT NOTE *** The Alhambra is one of the most visited attractions in Europe. New changes in the way entrance tickets are confirmed by the government do not allow us to secure blocks of tickets for SeaDream guests to the Alhambra. Tickets can only be booked on an individual (per person) basis and availability is extremely limited. To book tickets, each person’s name and passport numbers are required. If tickets can be confirmed, they will be charged to your credit card and will be non-refundable and non-transferrable. Please contact SeaDream Reservations for the Alhambra Booking Request Form to submit ticket requests. We will do our very best to assist you obtaining tickets. Entrance tickets are extremely limited and will not be sold onboard. The drive to Granada is approximately 2 hours each way, and there will be ample time to explore the gardens and palace on foot. This adventure does not include entrance to the Nasrid Palace; however, we do explore other wonderful highlights of the Alhambra Palace complex. A minimum number of participants is required to operate this adventure and may be booked as a private arrangement if the minimum is not reached. All SeaDream Yachting Land Adventures are subject to change. Final departure times will be published onboard.

Testimonials

This was our 3rd voyage with SeaDream – and we think the best one. We'll be back. Mr & Mrs Halvor StenstadvoldOslo, Norway
I hate Commercial Cruises. So I reluctantly signed up for a SeaDream, and after a week on the boat, I could not think of one thing that was not done to perfection. The food was great, the staff was spectacular, and having only 50 couples made this a private yacht cruise. I have signed up for my second cruise, and probably will only Yacht with SeaDream in my future. Pat McGroganFernandina Beach, Florida
