A transcontinental city straddling the Bosporus, one of the world's oldest waterways in northwestern Turkey, Istanbul has often been described as the destination where “East Meets West.” Its nickname comes from its most defining feature, the Bosporus Strait, which divides the European and Asian sides of the city, revealing a vibrant meld of cultures, architectural styles, and cuisine. Selected as a European Capital of Culture for 2010, Istanbul is home to some of the world’s most famous mosques, churches, and palaces, as well as being an important city during the Latin, Byzantine, and Ottoman Empires.
Kepez is a seaside town in the Canakkale Province in Turkey. From Kepez SeaDream offers a unique Land Adventure to the ruins of the ancient city of Troy (Unesco Heritage Site). The movie starring Brad Pit although filmed in Malta has the actual Trojan Horse in Canakkale. Another “don’t miss” option would be to visit perhaps the most moving site in all of Turkey: Anzac Cove and the World War I battlefields of Gallipoli. We recommend that you make time and visit this hauntingly beautiful area where for more than nine months (1915-16) Allied and Turkish troops faced one another in one of the world's most tragic battles to gain control of this most important waterway " the Dardanelles.
Kusadasi is a beach resort town on Turkey’s Aegean coast and the center of the seaside district of the same name in Aydin Province. The seaside town is also your gateway to the classical ruins at nearby Ephesus, among the world’s best preserved ancient Greco-Roman remains, including its excavated Terrace Houses and House of the Virgin Mary. Kusadasi’s seafront promenade, marina, and harbor are lined with quaint restaurants. Just offshore on Pigeon Island stands a walled thirteenth-century Byzantine castle that once guarded the town. Meet resident wild boars at nearby Dikek National Park, comprised of four secluded beaches, a spectacular coastline, and incomparable views of the Aegean Sea, just one of Turkey’s many protected conservation areas.
Mykonos is one of the most visited Greek Islands. It is part of the Cyclades group and lies between Tinos, Syros, Paros and Naxos. The island spans an area of 85.5 square kilometers (33.0 sq mi) and rises to an elevation of 341 meters (1,119 feet) at its highest point. Mykonos is so incredibly beautiful; it is not surprising that it has become one of the most desired destinations in the world. Santorini, officially named Thira, is the southernmost Greek island that is within the Cyclades archipelago, in the southern Aegean Sea. Part of the regional unit Thira, the municipality of Santorini is comprised of the island Santorini, Therasia, and other uninhabited islands of Christiana, Palaia Kameni, Aspronisi, and Nea Kameni. The geological history of Santorini is quite complex due to the area’s volcanism and is currently a water-filled caldera: a rectangular lagoon that is surrounded by three steep cliffs. The name Santorini is a contraction of the name Santa Irini, which is based on an ancient cathedral found in the island’s village of Perissa. This name was given by the Latin Empire in the 13th Century. During the Ottoman Empire, Santorini was called “Santurin” or “Santoron”, and in early times, it was named Kalliste, Strongyle, and Thera. Santorini is the site of the Minoan Eruption (also known as the Thera Eruption), one of the largest eruptions ever in recorded history. The origins of Plato’s story of Atlantis is believed to have a connection to this eruption that destroyed the early settlements on what was formerly a single island. The descriptions found of Plato’s Atlantis strongly resembles Thera, and with seismological, archaeological, and volcanological evidence, these claims are further supported. There is also speculation that the eruption is related to the Exodus of the Israelites, as well as causing the plagues described in the Bible in ancient Egypt. The economy is sustained by two principal industries: tourism and agriculture, and has recently been voted as one of the world’s most beautiful islands in various outlets such as the Traveler’s Choice Awards in 2015. The wine industry in Santorini is becoming more relevant as well, made up of Assyrtiko, Athiri and Aidani grape varieties, which is best exemplified in Vinsanto (“holy wine”) which contains all three Aegean varietals. Although Santorini is highly arid, it’s unique ecology and climate allows it to grow unique and prized produce, such as cherry tomatoes, Lathyrus clymenum (a legume), and capers. Thus, tourists indulge in local specialties such as Brantada, Fava, and the traditional dish Santorinio Sfougato.
So narrow! So dramatic! You'll understand why SeaDream says "expect the unexpected" as your yacht transits the Corinth Canal. The canal was first completed in 1893, despite previous attempts from ancient times; the first plans being from 602BC. The Roman Emporer Nero actually started construction in 67AD, making the first cut himself with a golden pick. The canal we transit is 6.3 kilometres (3.9 mi) in length. Before the canal, ships sailing between the Aegean and the Adriatic had to circumnavigate the Peloponnese Peninsula adding about 185 nautical miles to their voyage.
Itea is a small town situated on the north coast of the Gulf of Corinth, 2 km west of Kirra, 8 km southwest of Delphi. The town has a nice beach along with some shops, cafes and restaurants. It allows the closest access to the incredible sight of Delphi which is within the top three archeological attractions in Greece and in 1987 was inscribed as a UNESCO Heritage Site. It is believed the Zeus wanted to find the center of the Earth so he sent two eagles flying from the eastern and western extremities and where they met was Delphi – becoming the “navel/center of the earth”. SeaDream has arranged the very best guides and vehicles from Athens to enhance this incredible visit further. Your guided visit highlights the ancient Sanctuary of Apollo, where Pythia, the celebrated Oracle dwelt, the Temple of Apollo, the Sacred Way, the amphitheater, the best-preserved stadium of Greece, and the Castalia Spring, where in ancient days the pilgrims had to wash before they were allowed to consult the Oracle. In the Delphi Museum, see such treasures as the Omphalos, which marked the center of the world, and the magnificent bronze Charioteer, one of the finest pieces surviving from the 5th century BC. After the museum, there will be free time to visit the village of Delphi. SeaDream has the option of docking along the small pier in Itea or anchoring off to provide water sports options. This is dependent on availability as well as a number of guests visiting the archeological site.

Jutting into the southern Adriatic Sea coast, Dubrovnik—dubbed the “Pearl of the Adriatic”—is perhaps the most picturesque city on the Dalmatian Coast. A key Mediterranean maritime power from the 13th century, Dubrovnik has preserved its storied mix of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque churches, monasteries, palaces, and fountains. Its Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site adorned with the ancient city walls and Rector’s Palace. SeaDream anchors off the walled city as a port of call and tenders directly to the town gate.
Hvar is a Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea. The island of Hvar is somewhat unusual as it is blessed with a large fertile coastal plain and fresh water springs. Its hillsides are covered in pine forests, with vineyards, olive groves, fruit orchards and lavender fields in the agricultural areas. The climate is characterized by mild winters and warm summers with many hours of sunshine. Guests have an option to kayak down the coastline on one of our land adventures or take an independent hike up to the fortress to have some incredible views of the picturesque harbor. You also have an option to bike across the island to Starigrad and meet up with the other guests on the land adventure called “The best of Both Worlds".
The town of Sibenik is situated in one of the most well-protected natural harbors on the Croatian coast. Your SeaDream yacht navigates into the harbor past numerous islands in the archipelago and through a channel that is, in parts, less than 500 feet wide. While Sibenik is less well known than Dubrovnik and Split, it has its own personality and some great things to see and enjoy. Sibenik's St. James Cathedral is one of the marvels of the Dalmatian Coast and is Unesco World Heritage listed as of November 2000. In the old town, little streets lead to attractive squares where modern shops blend into the fine and stylish architecture of vanished centuries. Nearby is the Krka National Park with its river and numerous waterfalls and cascades. SeaDream Land Adventures offer you an orientation of the city as well as venturing to the Krka National Park & Waterfalls as well as the neighboring town of Zadar and Liquor Tasting.
Rovinj is a popular tourist resort in Croatia situated on the north Adriatic Sea. It is situated on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula and remains as one of the last true fishing ports. SeaDream has arranged some unique land adventure options including; Porec, a Touch of History, Culture & The Family Tradition of Wine Making, and the very popular Searching For Truffles in the Countryside. SeaDream is scheduled to anchor to offer water sports activities from the marina (Permission and conditions pending).
Piran may be the most beautiful of Slovenia's coastal towns. It is perched on a tiny piece of land jutting into the sea. It has the feeling of being more like an Italian coastal town, without all the tourists. Piran was part of the Venetian empire from the late 13th century to the end of the 18th century and also had some influence from Austria-Hungary Empire.
Venice has been known as the "Queen of the Adriatic", "City of Water", "City of Masks", "City of Bridges", "The Floating City", and "City of Canals". Luigi Barzini, writing in The New York Times, described it as "undoubtedly the most beautiful city built by man". Venice has also been described by the Times Online as being one of Europe's most romantic cities. Founded in the 5th century, the city stretches across 118 small islands in the marshy Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic. In 1987 Venice and its Lagoon was inscribed as a UNESCO Heritage site. SeaDream typically docks at the San Basilio pier after navigating by the famous St. Mark’s Square down the grand canal. With its yacht stature, SeaDream vessels are amongst the very few commercial vessels that can navigate this famous waterway. SeaDream does offer Land Adventures when overnighting. Troy & Gallipoli (Kepez) - Ancient Troy
Description
This Yachting Land Adventure explores one of the most famous ancient sites in the world: legendary Troy.
The name Troy refers both to the remains of a Bronze Age fortress at Hisarlik Hill near the entrance of the Dardanelles, and the legendary city of King Priam that was destroyed by Acheans in the Trojan War. The hill is associated with the sagas of the Trojan War and its description by Homer (750 BC) in his two epic poems "The Iliad" and "The Odyssey." Archaeological digs have revealed nine cities and various ruins of the city walls, typical house foundations, a temple and a theater. There is also a symbolic "Wooden Horse" near the site.
Next, visit the Troy Museum, built on 100 acres of land, the exhibition area covers 29,000 sq. ft (2,700 sq. mt) with an interior of 137,200 sq. ft. (12,750 sq. mt) at the entrance of Troy ruins. The fact that the height of the museum building is equal to the height of the ancient city of Troy prior to the excavation allows Troy to be kept alive here with all the details. The Troy Museum, which is one of the most important examples of the contemporary archaeological museum chosen by more than 150 projects by an internationally respected jury committee in the National Architectural Design Competition, was opened to visitors in October 2018 Troy Year.
At the end of the visits, return to Kepez Port to rejoin the yacht.Notes

Not far from Mykonos lies UNESCO listed Delos, the island of light, the mythical birthplace of the God Apollo and the Goddess Artemis. Its name means “that which appears" and, according to mythology, the island appeared amid the waves so that Leto would have a place to give birth to Apollo and Artemis. Delos Island, an area of only five sq. km (almost 2 sq. miles), was once a very important religious, cultural and commercial center. Today, the island is a piece of land covered with archaeological sites: fallen columns, sections of the famous mosaics which adorned the houses of the rich, a stadium, and tiers of seats from a theatre. Among these ruins, five marble lions in a row still stand. These were the guardians of the sacred lake, still gazing out to the east waiting for the sun to rise.
Other interesting monuments, spread over a wide area, are: the Agora, the treasuries of the various cities, the Sanctuary of Apollo, the Theatre, the Sanctuary of the Foreign Gods and the Sacred Mt Cynthus. Santorini - Akrotiri Archaeological Site & Oia Village
Description
On this land adventure, discover the picturesque village of Oia and one of the most important prehistoric settlements of the Mediterranean: Akrotiri Archaeological site. Could Akrotiri be the lost city of Atlantis?
One of the reasons Santorini has attracted the world’s attention is the excavation at Akrotiri, which reclaimed a whole prehistoric Minoan city from the volcanic ash. The prehistoric site of Akrotiri is on the south-western tip of the island and was discovered in 1967 by Professor Spyros Marinatos. The city was buried by the Theran volcanic eruption in the middle of the second millennium BC.
Over the years, excavations have brought into light a remarkably well-preserved site with two and three-story homes decorated with marvelous wall paintings and frescoes, an advanced drainage system and many interesting objects, artwork, pottery and furniture which give a picture of a society which was very well organized and at the peak of prosperity. This was interrupted suddenly by the eruption of the volcano, which buried the entire city. An ambitious modern bio-climatic roof top structure protects this important archaeological settlement where excavation works are still in progress.
After exploring the excavations with a guide, ride to the northeast part of the island and its most picturesque town, Oia. Built high up on the ridge of red rocks, it offers breathtaking views of the blue Aegean. Take a stroll around the narrow streets with the old beautiful houses and the tiny picturesque shops. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the caldera cliff and wander in the narrow streets for shopping or a cup of coffee during your free time in the village.
The guide visit ends in the town of Fira. Wander along the edge of the caldera for amazing views or wander through narrow streets with the various shops. When ready, take a cable car or walk along the path down to the small port of Skala Fira for tenders back to the SeaDream yacht.Notes

Corinth Canal Transit - Transiting The Corinth Canal
Description
So narrow! So dramatic! You'll understand why SeaDream says "expect the unexpected" as your yacht transits the Corinth Canal.
The Corinth Canal was built in the late nineteenth century and created a new sea route by linking the Corinthian
and Saronic Gulfs. Until that time, ships sailing between the Aegean and the Adriatic had had to circumnavigate the Peloponnese Peninsula adding about 185 nautical miles to their voyage. However, in antiquity the Greeks had devised a way of solving the problem of communications between the two seas. In the late seventh or early sixth century BC, the tyrants of Corinth constructed a paved road called the Diolkos, which led from Schinous on the Saronic Gulf to Poseidonia on the Gulf of Corinth. The Dioikos was 3-3.5 m. wide, and it was paved with blocks of limestone set in a deep layer of sand and gravel. Along this ran the olkos vehicle on which ships were borne overland from one side of the Isthmus to the other. Sections of the Diolkos can still be seen today; the deep parallel ruts in the road, 1.50 m. apart, are the marks left by the wheels of the olkos.
The ancient Greeks had of course, considered the possibility of digging a canal through the Isthmus. The first to look into the matter was Periander, tyrant of Corinth, who drew up a plan for a canal in 602 BC. Subsequent planners included Demetrius Poliorcetes, Julius Caesar and Caligula. These plans were later adopted by Nero, who in 67 AD announced to the spectators at the Isthmian Games that he was going to join the two seas by digging a canal through the Isthmus; indeed, he went so far as to cut the first turf himself, with a golden pick, and to carry the first basket of earth on his back. But his plans came to nothing, as did those of Herodes Atticus, the Byzantines and the Venetians in later times.
The canal we see today was built in 1882 -1893 by Greek and French engineers using the most advanced machinery of the day. General supervision of the enormous undertaking was in the hands of General Stepan Tupp, aide-de-camp to the King of Italy. The project was completed by the Greek Corinth Canal Company.
The canal is 6,343 m. in length. It has a width of 24.60 m. at surface level and 21.30 m. at the seabed, and in some places its sides are 79 m. high. The canal is crossed by road and railway bridges, while communications between Central Greece and the Peloponnese are also served by two ferries in the form of submersible bridges, one at either end (Poseidonia and Isthmia).Notes

As the gorge gets narrower the water level gradually rises but you will be able to stop at the depth you feel most comfortable with.
Enjoy a relaxing rafting descent in the sparkling waters of Acheron River, ideal even for beginners. As you glide through the tranquil waters, admire the unspoiled nature surrounding you. Observe the surrounding forest and the flowing willow trees while listening to the birds singing above your head. This safari concludes with a bit of wine and a bite of fresh Greek salad with tzatziki and bread at a river side tavern before your return to the yacht.Notes
We recommend that you wear your swimsuit with a cover up. Bring water shoes as they are not provided on the excursion.

Dubrovnik - Historical Dubrovnik & Game of Thrones
Description
Discover the Dubrovnik Old Town which is so stunningly striking that it seems to have leapt directly from the pages of George R. R Martin’s addictive series – the Game of Thrones novels. It is no coincidence that Dubrovnik was also a capital city in its own right – of the now extinct Republic of Ragusa. On this tour, you will be taken through all the parts of the Old City where some of the most memorable scenes from the Game of Thrones cultural phenomenon were filmed, including: The Pile Gate where King Joffrey was faced with a citizens’ riot and pelted with dung. The Lovrijenac fort where the unsuccessful attack on King's Landing, known as the Battle of Blackwater, took place. The seemingly endless fortified walls will be seen from Lovrijenac fortress where Tyrion Lannister and Varys took a stroll. During your guided walking tour of the Old Town you will pause for a special Game of Thrones inspired cocktail created for SeaDream guests called a "White Walker Punch"!
All of the filming locations and commentary from your local guide will be accompanied by large, A4-sized photos that show the screen-shot from the appropriate episode and what took place. Of course, the people of Dubrovnik are also fiercely proud of their own fascinating history which your guide will also inform you about, alongside the Game of Thrones commentary.Notes

Testimonials
I hate Commercial Cruises. So I reluctantly signed up for a SeaDream, and after a week on the boat, I could not think of one thing that was not done to perfection. The food was great, the staff was spectacular, and having only 50 couples made this a private yacht cruise. I have signed up for my second cruise, and probably will only Yacht with SeaDream in my future. Pat M.Florida
This was the best small ship cruise we have undertaken and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We would certainly recommend Seadream and intend [to] return in the future. Mr. & Mrs. CowieEngland
