Explore rich history in the seaside city of Caen, built during the reign of William the Conqueror and known for the 1944 Battle of Normandy. Uncover the Channel Island of Guernsey, which has long attracted artists such as Auguste Renoir to its welcoming shores. In its capital of St. Peter Port, wander through commanding Castle Cornet, a 13th-century marvel of military engineering that sits on a rocky headland jutting out at sea. Call on the car-free Channel Island of Sark, rising dramatically from the sea, outshined only by its scenic coastline. Relax in the coastal town of Douarnenez, France, located at the mouth of the Pouldavid River, an estuary on the southern shore of Douarnenez Bay. The opportune location allows easy access to the area’s untouched beaches, perfect for strolling and lounging. Call on Belle Île (meaning “beautiful island”), nestled off the coast of Brittany in the Bay of Biscay, defined by its rugged coastline dotted with fissured cliffs, natural harbors, and sandy beaches. Delight in the wines of Bordeaux, docking in the heart of town, with hundreds of historical buildings, dozens of art galleries and museums, beautiful parks, and distinctive French cuisine at your feet.

  • Guernsey, Channel Islands - Guernsey’s Military History

    Description

    Discover Guernsey’s wartime history on a guided tour showcasing key sites from the island’s occupation during World War II. Traveling in a comfortable 16-seat minibus, you’ll explore historic landmarks with insights from a specialist guide.

    Begin with a visit to Fort Hommet, where you’ll have exclusive access to a well-preserved M-19 automatic mortar bunker and personnel shelter, offering a glimpse into the island’s coastal defenses.

    Continue along Guernsey’s scenic west coast, where you’ll have a short stop at Portelet, with the option to purchase local refreshments such as a fresh crab sandwich or Guernsey ice cream.

    Next, visit Batterie Dollman at Pleinmont Point, an important defense site with sweeping ocean views and a vantage point overlooking the Hanois Lighthouse.

    Conclude the tour at the German Occupation Museum, home to an extensive collection of wartime artefacts, including military equipment, period displays, and personal stories from the island’s occupation.

    After an insightful journey through Guernsey’s past, return to your Yacht, taking with you a deeper understanding of the island’s history.

  • Guernsey, Channel Islands - Hike in Herm

    Description

    Your guide will meet you at the pier for an introduction to Guernsey and St. Peter Port while leading you to the ferry.

    As the ferry ride to Herm begins, your guide will provide insights into the island and its surroundings. A walking map of Herm will be provided for your exploration.

    Upon arrival at Herm Harbour, enjoy a scenic walk up to the 11th-century St. Tugual’s Chapel. From there, continue through the heart of the island, pausing to admire Belvoir Bay before descending to the iconic Shell Beach, where you’ll have free time to relax on the pristine white sand.

    Enjoy lunch on the veranda at Shell Beach Café, featuring a crab sandwich, French fries, and a glass of wine.

    After lunch, embark on a guided walk across the northern common, with a chance to visit the shopping area—perhaps to send a postcard—before reaching the ferry departure point.

    Upon returning to Guernsey, your guide will accompany you back to the Yacht.
