Ports

  • Venice

Venice has been known as the "Queen of the Adriatic", "City of Water", "City of Masks", "City of Bridges", "The Floating City", and "City of Canals". Luigi Barzini, writing in The New York Times, described it as "undoubtedly the most beautiful city built by man". Venice has also been described by the Times Online as being one of Europe's most romantic cities. Founded in the 5th century, the city stretches across 118 small islands in the marshy Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic. In 1987 Venice and its Lagoon was inscribed as a UNESCO Heritage site. SeaDream typically docks at the San Basilio pier after navigating by the famous St. Mark’s Square down the grand canal. With its yacht stature, SeaDream vessels are amongst the very few commercial vessels that can navigate this famous waterway. SeaDream does offer Land Adventures when overnighting. You can also contact our destination specialists should you need a private arrangement, transfer or hotel recommendation.

  • Piran

Piran may be the most beautiful of Slovenia's coastal towns. It is perched on a tiny piece of land jutting into the sea. It has the feeling of being more like an Italian coastal town, without all the tourists. Piran was part of the Venetian empire from the late 13th century to the end of the 18th century and also had some influence from Austria-Hungary Empire. We have excellent reviews when guests participate in the adventure to see the Lipizzaner Horses as well as the walking exploration.

  • Split

Split is one of the oldest cities in the area and the second largest city behind Dubrovnik in Croatia. The Diocletian’s Palace is not only listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site but is also considered to be one of the world’s most impressive Roman monuments. This city is believed to be over 1,700 years old, while archaeological research relates the settling to the ancient Greek colony of Aspalathos (6th century BC) establishes the city as being several hundred years older. SeaDream offers three unique land adventure opportunities; Rafting on the Cetina River, the Split Archipelago by speedboat and naturally the Historic Split overview that included the Diocletian Palace as well as the Mestrovic Gallery.

  • Hvar

Hvar is a Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea. The island of Hvar is somewhat unusual as it is blessed with a large fertile coastal plain and fresh water springs. Its hillsides are covered in pine forests, with vineyards, olive groves, fruit orchards and lavender fields in the agricultural areas. The climate is characterized by mild winters and warm summers with many hours of sunshine. Guests have an option to kayak down the coastline on one of our land adventures or take an independent hike up to the fortress to have some incredible views of the picturesque harbor. You also have an option to bike across the island to Starigrad and meet up with the other guests on the land adventure called “The best of Both Worlds".

  • Korcula

Korčula may be the actual birthplace of Marco Polo! This is an island in the Adriatic Sea, in Southern Dalmatia and is considered by our guests as one of their favorites. One activity offered sells out every time so book early the Buggy Safari. As SeaDream typically anchors off Korcula expects the water toys to be used from the marina platform. As the island is relatively flat, this is a great biking destination as well.

  • Kotor

Kotor is a coastal town in Montenegro. The old Mediterranean port of Kotor is surrounded by an impressive city wall built by the Republic of Venice and the Venetian influence remains dominant among the architectural influences. In 1979 the Bay of Kotor, City of Kotor and the surrounding territory have been listed in the UNESCO Heritage as a Cultural Site. SeaDream usually navigates close by the small islands of St. George and Our Lady of the Reef. The Bay of Kotor stretches 28 km and is one of the most indented parts of the Adriatic Sea. It is sometimes called the southern-most fjord in Europe (though it is actually a submerged river canyon called a ria). SeaDream typically docks steps away from the town. SeaDream has arranged a few different Yachting Land Adventures. One of them is a walking discovery and the other will show you the heritage and countryside of Montenegro. For the active guests, there’s incredible biking along the coast as well as a hike up to the fortress. On occasion, SeaDream may dock in the bay and tender directly to the town. We regret that watersports are not allowed in this protected area.

  • Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik (Pearl of the Adriatic) is one of the most prominent destinations in the Adriatic Sea. It lies in the region of Dalmatia and was awarded World Unesco Heritage status in 1979. The population is approximately 43,000 and is considered to be among the 10 best medieval walled cities in the world. SeaDream anchors off the walled city as a port of call and tenders directly to the town gate. If you check the land adventures here, you will find that there are many different excursions to consider in this incredible town. Dubrovnik is also an embarkation point on select voyages. On these occasions, the yacht is docked at the cruise terminal.

  • Dubrovnik - Game of Thrones

    Description

The Dubrovnik Old Town is so stunningly striking that it seems to have leapt directly from the pages of George R. R Martin’s addictive series of Game of Thrones novels. It is no coincidence that Dubrovnik was also a capital city in its own right – of the now extinct Republic of Ragusa. On this tour, you will be taken through all the parts of the Old City where some of the most memorable scenes from the Game of Thrones cultural phenomenon were filmed, including: The Pile Gate where King Joffrey was faced with a citizens’ riot and pelted with dung. The Lovrijenac fort where the unsuccessful attack on King's Landing, known as the Battle of Blackwater, took place. The seemingly endless fortified walls will be seen from Lovrijenac fortress where Tyrion Lannister and Varys took a stroll. During your guided walking tour of the Old Town you will pause for a special Game of Thrones inspired cocktail created for SeaDream guests called a "White Walker Punch"!

All of the filming locations and commentary from your local guide will be accompanied by large, A4-sized photos that show the screen-shot from the appropriate episode and what took place. Of course, the people of Dubrovnik are also fiercely proud of their own fascinating history which your guide will also inform you about, alongside the Game of Thrones commentary.

  • Split - Game of Thrones in Split

    Description

Croatia has gained its popularity in last couple of years, not only because of its beauty, historical architecture and natural wonders, but also because of HBO’s Game of Thrones series that was filmed in several Croatian cities. It seems Croatia offers everything the crew needs, as the number of filming locations in Croatia grow every year. Visit the Split locations appearing in the fourth season of Game of Thrones. All the scenes with Daenarys Targaryen and her Unsullied Army this season were filmed in Dalmatia, precisely Split region. If you were wondering where does all the mountainous terrain and breathtaking views come from, we are going to take you there.
You will start with Klis Fortress, which is located just a short drive from Split. Klis is a medieval fortress situated above a village bearing the same name, near the city of Split. From its origin as a small stronghold built by the ancient Illyrian tribe Dalmatae, becoming a royal castle that was the seat of many Croatian kings, to its final development as a large fortress during the Ottoman wars in Europe, Klis Fortress has guarded the frontier, being lost and re-conquered several times throughout its more than two thousand year-long history. Due to its location on a pass that separates the mountains Mosor and Kozjak, the fortress served as a major source of defense in Dalmatia, especially against the Ottoman advance, and has been a key crossroad between the Mediterranean belt and the Balkan rear. In the modern times, this fortress has been a filming location for Danaerys’s stronghold.

Upon the visit to Klis fort, embark your coach and continue driving towards Dugopolje region in Split. A visit to Vranjaca cave with guide will give you an insight of the pass ways and filming locations for the 5th season of the popular TV Show. Vranjaca was discovered in 1903, is 65m deep and was created millions of years ago by an underground river. The cave offers cool respite from the summer heat.

After a short drive you will arrive to Antonica Mill. This mill is the last mill on Zrnovica River that is still in function, and has been working continuously for last 100 years, although it is presumed that the mill is over 500 years old. Flour is still produced over there. If you want to learn how the people traditionally lived here, this is a great opportunity, as you will be able to see how bread was made in the old days without electricity and modern appliances. That bread will be a part of your lunch served in the wonderful surroundings of the mill. After your tasty lunch, re-board the coach and head back to Split.

Next you will re-board the coach and go towards the town of Split, more precisely, you will visit Diocletian’s Cellars, built in 4th century and also one of the filming locations of the fourth season of Game of Thrones. During the time of the emperor, the basement was largely used for storage of foodstuff and wine. Actually, the remnant of a large press, which was used to turn the grapes into wine, is still visible today showcasing that Diocletian surely enjoyed a glass or two of his own Dalmatian wines down here. Now days, it’s a place where Daenerys fought the slave-owner overlords the Mereen and Yunkai with her faithful Unsullied within these very walls, only to return to Westeros as the victorious queen.

After the tour your guide will point out how to get back to your SeaDream yacht (which is in nearby vicinity of Diocletian’s Palace), in case you decide to explore the town on your own.

    Notes

Considering that access to Klis fort and the fort itself is very strenuous, the access and walking inside the cave is considering significant amount of walking guests should be aware that this tour is very demanding and only for those in good physical shape. A minimum participation is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures and some have limited capacity. Many of you will have heard of the famous white horses of the Spanish Riding School in Vienna. Established during the Austrian Empire in 1572, it is the oldest riding school of its kind in the world. The school uses exclusively the Lipizzaner horse which for many years came from the Lipica Stud Farm in the picturesque Karst region of western Slovenia which was part of the Austrian Empire at the time.
