The provincial capital of Girona, one of the most historical places in Spain, is located about 45 miles from Roses. Although now quite a large city, it has retained most of its compact old medieval quarter virtually intact, including the historic fortifications - and the former Jewish Quarter. After your coach arrives from Roses, your local guide will take you into the Jewish Quarter where you will discover the Arab Baths with their beautiful arches. In spite of the name, the construction of the baths is a western Romanesque style. Visit the Bonastruch Ca Porta Museum on the site of the old synagogue, as well as the medieval walls of the city and the remains of the Gironella Tower, which was destroyed by Napoleon during his retreat in 1814. You can’t miss seeing the outside of the great Catalonian Romanesque Monastery of Sant Pere de Galligants. There will be some free time to explore, browse the shops, grab a bite to eat or drink on your own before boarding the bus and returning to Roses and your SeaDream yacht.
Notes: IMPORTANT: Due to traffic restrictions in Girona, the walking distance from the bus parking lot to the city center is 1.4 km (.87mile) and a 30 min one way walk. First restrooms facilities are in the City Center. This tour is not recommended for guests with walking difficulties, as the city and the venue feature cobblestones, ramps, and steps. A minimum participation is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures, and some may have limited capacity.
