Highlights of Bursa
Meet your guide at the port and drive approximately a half hour to Bursa for exploring the wonderful highlights on a half-day tour.
First, visit the Great Mosque (Ulucami). Built in the 14th century, this mosque is an excellent example of classical Ottoman architecture. Of special interest are the intricately carved wooden pulpit, and the three-tiered fountain.
Then, you will visit the Koza Han. This silk bazaar, built in 1451, is the center of the silk trade. After passing through many restorations, the Koza Han still survives today and continues to be the center of cocoons which are ready for spinning.
Last, visit the Green Mosque, named after the color of its minaret. It is the symbol of Iznik. It was built by Architect Haci Mustafa between 1378 and 1391. With its single dome, it is one of the most splendid mosques built in the Early Ottoman Period. The main part is ornamented with blue and green ceramic tiles in a zigzag mosaic technique. The diversity of green and turquoise ceramic tiles of the mosque attracts attention.
At the end of your experience, you will drive back to the port to embark the ship.
Notes: Modest attire is required; when visiting the Mosques, knees, shoulders and midriffs must be covered and women must cover their head with a scarf, which will be provided. Shoes must be removed and shoe bags will be provided for the visit.
