Explore the world’s oldest port of Jaffa, and Tel Aviv’s highlights on this half day excursion from Ashdod on day 1 of your call to Israel.
Departing Ashdod by coach you will travel to the ancient city of Jaffa. Founded by Noah's son Japhet, and famous for the Whale biblical story; 4,000-year-old Jaffa is an old-world port dating from Phoenician, Roman and Crusader times. On this excursion you will have a guided walk-through archaeological ruins, winding alleyways with cafes and art galleries, see Saint Peter's Church and admire the Clock Tower, plus take in excellent views of Tel Aviv.
Next, reboard the coach for a panoramic drive of Tel Aviv. Feel the unique “vibe” of Tel Aviv, rated by Lonely Planet as 3rd "Top City in the World". Drive along Rothschild boulevard, Tel Aviv's White City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that holds the world's largest concentration of Bauhaus architecture. See the main cultural and historical sites in the city.
A stop will also be made at the Sarona Complex for a guided walk through this beautiful and delicious market. Like other markets in Europe, the Sharona Market is a heaven for foodies. All under one roof, you will find an exciting array of culinary abundance, specialty stores and restaurants – a favourite of the best chefs in Israel! Established in 1871 by the German Templers this renovated complex located in the heart of Tel Aviv is a local's favourite! There is free time on your own in the market to browse for treasures, have a quick and tasty lunch, or take in the cultural elements before reboarding the coach for the return to your SeaDream yacht in Ashdod.
