RIB - Wildlife Sea Safari
RIB - Wildlife Sea Safari
Near Ålesund, among the chain of islands stretching toward the open ocean, lies a wealth of remarkable wildlife and dramatic Nordic seascapes waiting to be explored. Beyond the sheltered waters of the town, the outer islands reveal a wilder Norway, where ocean, sky, and nature dominate the horizon.
This guided RIB Wildlife Sea Safari takes you across exposed coastal waters and into protected nature reserves, offering a respectful and immersive way to experience the region’s extraordinary marine life. Traveling at a comfortable yet dynamic pace, you navigate toward the remote outer islands while your guide shares insights into the landscapes and ecosystems shaped by the ever-changing Nordic Sea. Fully equipped for Norway’s shifting weather conditions, the experience is designed with careful attention to safety and environmental awareness.
Sail to the outward outposts of Nordic nature and observe wildlife in a non-intrusive manner. Seal colonies are frequently seen resting along the skerries, and depending on the season, dolphins or even whales may pass through these nutrient-rich waters. Seabirds are often the highlight of the journey, with Atlantic puffins, black-legged kittiwakes, common guillemots, fulmars, razorbills, and northern gannets nesting and feeding along the cliffs and open sea. From April through early August, puffins are frequently present, adding color and movement to this dramatic coastal setting.
This experience offers an unforgettable journey into Norway’s remote outer islands, a rare opportunity to witness a secluded natural environment that serves as both nesting ground and refuge for numerous ocean species, combining adventure with deep respect for wildlife and the powerful moods of the Nordic Sea.
