Your experience begins at the pier, where you will meet your guide before walking to Kystmuseet Norveg, the striking main building of the Norwegian Coastal Museum. Inside, the permanent exhibition “From the Stone Age to High-Tech Society” traces more than 11,000 years of settlement, fishing traditions, trade networks, and coastal development. The visit also includes the aquaculture exhibition, highlighting the importance of modern salmon farming in the region.
From Norveg, continue to Bryggerekka, the historic waterfront row of buildings showcasing traditional boats, fishing communities, and maritime engines that illustrate Norway’s long seafaring heritage.
The walk then leads to Berggården, a well-preserved 1880s trading house whose shop interior remains largely unchanged since the 1960s, offering a glimpse into how goods were once exchanged in coastal communities.
Your tour concludes at Telemuseet Rørvik, where historic telephones and communication equipment tell the story of the telegraph and coastal radio station that once connected fishermen and ships navigating Norway’s rugged coastline. A short walk brings you back to the pier.
Notes: Guests should be prepared for light walking throughout the experience, covering approximately 1–2 kilometers (0.6–1.2 miles) on paved ground, with some uneven terrain and a few steps when entering or exiting historic buildings. Interior thresholds may be encountered inside the Norveg Museum, and indoor walkways at Berggården trading house include some steps. It is recommended to wear weather-appropriate layered clothing and comfortable walking shoes. This tour is not wheelchair accessible.
