Essential Cannes: History, Flavors and Film

Begin your walking adventure in Cannes as your guide greets you at the pier and leads you along the picturesque old harbor, where elegant sailing yachts line the waterfront. From here, make your way uphill toward Le Suquet, the city’s historic quarter. Stroll at a relaxed pace through charming lanes filled with small boutiques and inviting cafés, pausing at a refreshing fountain along the way. At the summit, discover the 17th‑century Provençal Gothic church and enjoy sweeping views over Cannes, its harbor, the Mediterranean Sea, and the beautiful Lérins Islands.
Continue your exploration as you descend toward the lively Marché Forville, a beloved local market brimming with fresh produce, fragrant herbs, and regional specialties. Your guide will introduce you to traditional Riviera flavors, including a tasting of Socca, the iconic chickpea crêpe seasoned with salt and pepper. Surrounded by colorful stalls and the bustle of daily life, this stop offers an authentic glimpse into Cannes’ culinary culture. The market’s vibrant atmosphere and abundance of local delicacies make it a highlight for guests who enjoy food, tradition, and the charm of everyday French living.
Your walk continues to the famed Palais des Festivals, home of the world‑renowned Cannes Film Festival. Here, you can admire the handprints of international movie stars and pose for a memorable photo on the iconic red carpet. The tour then follows palm‑lined La Croisette and the fashionable Rue d’Antibes, known for its boutiques, cafés, and weekly antiques market. At the conclusion of your guided visit, you may choose to remain in the city center to explore independently or return with your guide to the pier.
