Board your vehicle for a short drive to Napoleon’s summer residence, Villa San Martino, located just outside Portoferraio. This elegant villa served as the Emperor’s retreat when he wished to escape city life during his exile on Elba. Upon arrival, enjoy a guided interior visit of the residence, with explanations highlighting the villa’s purpose, history, and connection to Napoleon.

Reboard your vehicle and return to Portoferraio, where the excursion continues on foot. Follow your guide for a leisurely stroll along the Medicean Darsena, lined with yachts and traditional shops, before entering the historic center through the Sea Gate of the Medicean Fortresses. Built in 1548 under Cosimo de’ Medici, these fortifications once protected and fortified the town.

Along the route, admire the 15th-century Palazzo Comunale, where Napoleon briefly stayed in 1814, before leaving the main square and continuing for an exterior visit of Villa dei Mulini, Napoleon’s former town residence, named after the windmills that once stood here. From the villa, continue along a narrow cobblestone path to the upper town, where a wine tasting paired with local specialties awaits, a memorable moment to toast the experience. Cheers and Saluti!
