A scenic drive from the pier brings you inland to the village of Gliki, set beside the Acheron River. Known in Greek mythology as the River Styx, Acheron was believed to lead to the entrance of the underworld and the Kingdom of Hades. From the village, a short walk leads to the riverbanks where your exploration begins. After changing into your swimsuit and waterproof shoes, you step into the clear, flowing waters, which remain shallow along much of their course as they pass through the surrounding gorge.
As you proceed through the river, the landscape narrows into the Gliki Gorge, and the water gradually deepens, allowing you to continue at a level that suits your comfort. The route combines wading and a guided rafting segment, offering a steady descent through calm waters bordered by dense vegetation and willow trees. The rafting portion is designed for beginners and follows a gentle course, allowing close observation of the natural setting while moving downstream.
Following the river experience, you return to a nearby riverside taverna where a selection of local flavors is served, including Greek salad, tzatziki, fresh bread, and a glass of wine, beer, or a soft drink. Following your time at the riverside taverna, you rejoin your vehicle for the return drive to the pier, where your yacht awaits.
Notes: This tour requires physical effort, including walking in the river and participation in rafting without discomfort or difficulty in breathing. Guests must walk in the river and take part in a water-based activity involving wading and rafting over uneven natural river terrain. Riverbed conditions may include stones and uneven surfaces underfoot, and waterproof footwear is required for stability and comfort. Guests must bring their own swimwear, waterproof shoes, and a towel, and changing into swimwear typically takes place in basic facilities near the riverbanks or tavern. Rafting boats accommodate 6 guests each. The tour is subject to weather conditions. Transfers to and from Gliki village is approximately 60 minutes each way.
A minimum number of participants is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures, and some may have limited capacity. Please book on the Seadream.com website, or onboard, early to avoid disappointment. All adventures in the SeaDream Yachting Land Adventures program are subject to change.
