Isle of Harris Distillery Experience
Departing from Stornoway, travel south along the island’s scenic roads toward the Isle of Harris, passing through changing landscapes before arriving in the harbour town of Tarbert. Upon arrival at the Isle of Harris Distillery, you will be welcomed by a host and begin an in-depth exploration of whisky production. The experience introduces the stages behind the creation of The Hearach, the first legal whisky produced on the island, beginning with a tasting of the New Make Spirit and continuing with a tasting of the finished whisky released in September 2023.
Your visit continues through the production areas, where you will observe the distillation process and gain insight into the methods used at the distillery. In the blending hall, learn about cask selection and the finishing process, with views into the bottling hall where the whisky is prepared for distribution. Following the distillery experience, enjoy free time in Tarbert, where you may visit local shops including the Harris Tweed store and Essence of Harris, offering island-produced goods.
The return journey follows the same route back to Stornoway, allowing further views of the surrounding terrain as you travel north across the island.
Notes: Walking is on flat ground from the car park to the distillery entrance, with steps required within the distillery; walking beyond the entrance is at guests’ discretion. Transfer time is approximately 75 minutes each way. Warm, waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear are recommended. Guests under 18 years of age are not permitted to consume alcoholic beverages. Wheelchair users must be accompanied by a companion responsible for providing assistance throughout the tour.
A minimum number of participants is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures, and some may have limited capacity. Please book on the Seadream.com website, or onboard, early to avoid disappointment. All adventures in the SeaDream Yachting Land Adventures program are subject to change.
