This guided eBike tour takes you through the landscapes of Castlewellan Forest Park, offering a mix of gentle riding routes, scenic views, and historical context. Upon arrival, the experience begins with a guided electric bike ride through established woodland areas and the estate grounds. As you set off, the stone courtyard and the exterior of Castlewellan Castle come into view, offering a glimpse into the estate’s history as the former home of the Annesley family in the 19th century. The ride continues through the arboretum, where a curated collection of trees, including redwoods, cedars, and rhododendrons, lines the cycling paths, forming a canopy overhead. Throughout the route, the guide provides factual commentary on the estate and its landscape features, with the Mourne Mountains visible in the surrounding backdrop.
The cycling route includes planned stops, allowing guests to pause within the park setting and observe specific features of the grounds. A stop is made along the route for a light picnic featuring local offerings. The electric bikes support a steady pace across the estate, enabling guests to cover a broader area than would be possible on foot while remaining on designated paths.
Following the cycling experience, guests return to the motorcoach for the journey back to Warrenpoint. The return transfer follows the same route, concluding at the pier.
Notes: This tour involves strenuous activity and requires participants to be physically fit. Surfaces may be uneven in sections, particularly under tree cover or after wet weather. The approximate transfer time to and from Castlewellan is 60 minutes each way. Comfortable, waterproof, and warm clothing is recommended. This tour is not suitable for wheelchair users or guests with limited mobility.
