Often called Scotland in miniature for packing Highland scenery, castles and whisky onto one small island, Arran rises straight from the harbor at Brodick to the granite peak of Goat Fell. Brodick Castle and its gardens sit just above the pier, while the island's own distillery turns out a well-regarded single malt within an easy drive. Seven golf courses share this one small island, along with red deer, seals and a coastline made for walking. A whole Highland holiday, scaled down.
