Ports

  • Lisbon

Lisbon is the capital as well as the largest city in Portugal. It is one of the oldest cities in the world. Lisbon has two sites listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Sites: Belem Tower and Jeronimos Monastery. The city stretches along the banks of the Tejo river. This is primarily an embark/debark port of call for SeaDream.

  • Portimao, Algarve

Portimao, Portugal is located in the District of Faro in the Region of Algarve. Portimao is the host venue for many prestigious sailing events including the annual Portimao, Portugal Match Cup event which is a part of the World Match Racing Tour. The Lisbon to Dakar Rally passes through, and there is also surfing and kitesurfing. This is a great place for seafood restaurants with grilled sardines being the specialty. The beaches are very nice around Portimao, one of interest is ("Praia da Rocha"), meaning "Rocky Beach" . SeaDream docks at the cruise terminal and a shuttle bus is organized to take guests to the town. SeaDream has two very nice land adventure options as well as private services. Please check the Land Adventures tab for more information.

  • Tangier

  • Gibraltar

Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory located at the entrance of the Mediterranean on the southern end of the Iberian Peninsula. Most visitors arriving by sea are impressed by the rock’s enormous visual impact. Only covering an area of 2.3 square miles (6.0 sq. km.) several sites are a must-see! Some of the “can’t miss” options include the Great Siege Tunnels, St. Michael’s Cave, The Moorish Castle, The Lighthouse at Europa Point and shopping – yes shopping. SeaDream docks at the passenger terminal and has the coaches for the land adventures just outside. It is an easy walk downtown to the duty-free area. Bikes are available should you want to bike up the rock.

  • Puerto Banus, Marbella

Puerto Banus is a very upscale marina to the west of Marbella, Spain on the Costa del Sol. It was built in 1970 by Jose Banus, a local property developer, as a luxury marina and shopping complex for the jet-set. The focal point of Puerto Banus is the marina. It is also a scene for many exotic cars that are owned by international celebrities and wealthy owners that also own large mega yachts. Our local agent tells us that SeaDream is the only commercial yacht that has docked in Banus. Several club members arrange a gathering with the local Ferrari Club and line up 20 or so Italian iconic automobiles along the pier. Just sit back and watch the scenery – awesome!

  • Malaga

Malaga, together with adjacent towns and municipalities such as Rincon de la Victoria, Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Alhaurin de la Torre, Mijas, and Marbella, forms the Malaga Metropolitan area. The important cultural infrastructure and the rich artistic heritage have culminated in the nomination of Malaga as a candidate for the 2016 European Capital of Culture. The internationally acclaimed painter and sculptor Pablo Picasso and actor Antonio Banderas were both born in Malaga. SeaDream calls to Malaga both as an embarkation point as well as a typical port of call. Kindly check on the land adventures tab to see all of the activities and options. Should you need embarkation information, it’s also available there.

  • Portimao, Algarve - Lagos, Sagres & Cape St. Vincent

    Description

This SeaDream Yachting Land Adventure will combine the sights of Lagos with a trip to Europe’s most south westerly point!

Begin your sightseeing adventure with a guided walking overview of Lagos. Enjoy some free time to wander along its quaint, narrow streets at your own pace. Lagos retains the atmosphere of its great cosmopolitan heritage in its wealth of architecture and monuments. Continue with a 45 minute drive to the small town of Sagres. Although debated, some consider Sagres to have been the headquarters of Prince Henry the Navigator’s, School of Navigation. The school may have been within the 17th-century fortress, which was defended from the shore by mighty ramparts and from the sea by towering cliffs. Prince Henry is also reputed to have created a shipbuilding yard in the small natural harbor below. Visit the fortress and the old Hermitage, which dates back to the 7th century. Here, you will view a giant pebble wind compass, known as the Rosa dos Ventos, before continuing your journey west to Cape St. Vincent. So named after the martyred St. Vincent, the cape is the site of numerous naval battles, such as that between Admiral Rodney and the Spanish in 1780 and Admiral Jervis and Admiral Nelson against the Spanish fleet in 1797. As you stand on Europe’s most south western point, admire a steadfast lighthouse whose guiding beam safely directs hundreds of ships passing the Cape every year.

Having experienced the best of the Algarve, you will return with your fellow SeaDreamers to the yacht docked in Portimão.

  • Portimao, Algarve - Village Views & Portuguese Wines

    Description

Discover a charming Algarve fishing village and a modern Estate famous for its wine production. This Yachting Land Adventure begins by driving past Praia da Rocha in the direction toward Alvor, a little fishing port with a history that extends back to the Classical Era. It is believed the Carthaginians founded the city and its importance is confirmed by the ruins of a wealthy Roman villa located slightly inland from the present village. In the time of the Moors, who first occupied the area in 716, the village was named Albur and it passed through Portuguese and Moorish hands several times. Alvor, as its known today, is a charming blend of popular modern-day resort and quaint old-world village.

After spending some free time in Alvor, we will make our way to Quinta dos Vales where we will have a guided visit of the property (Sculpture Garden, vineyards and the wine lodge) followed by a wine tasting session of the wines produced and accompanied by a splendid selection of Portuguese snacks. The wines created at this estate have already received several awards in international wine contests. The wine tasting with the Portuguese snacks will take place in the well preserved tasting room of the manor house. After a refreshing experience we will re-board our coach and make our way back to the beautiful SeaDream yacht.

  • Puerto Banus, Marbella - Ronda Wine Experience

    Description

One of Spain’s oldest cities, located in the Andalusian mountains and 750 meters above sea level, Ronda stills displays aspects of its ancient Roman origins. This historical town has been a much loved destination for many painters, architects and creative artists; including Orson Welles and Ernest Hemingway.

The best way to explore Ronda is on foot and throughout your guided walking tour you will pass several of the city’s highlights; including the ‘Puente Nuevo’ (New Bridge), which alongside the bull ring is said to symbolize the soul of the city. Having visited the city center, you will discover one unique wine cellar in the area. “Descalzos Viejos” (the aged barefoot monks), was founded in the year 2000 and specially restored for the purpose of wine-making by the architects Francisco Retamero and Flavio Salesi and their respective wives, Chelo Porras and Mariela Grana. It is situated in the chapel of a sixteenth century Trinitarian monastery. In this building, perched on the higher slopes of the impressive Tajo of Ronda (the famous Gorge), they make wine from the 5.5 hectares of vineyards that have been planted on this property, and other 5 hectares in ward. During the visit, you will taste three types of wines, accompanied with some snacks.

  • Puerto Banus, Marbella - Mijas & Modern Masterpieces

    Description

Take a look behind the scenes at Spanish country life. Leaving the vibrant port of Puerto Banus, wander through the narrow, cobble-stoned streets of this pretty village and you will see why artists are attracted to this place, with its wonderful panoramic views over the Mediterranean Sea. Continue the guided walking tour towards the bullring. The Mijas bullring is quirky because of its unusual shape. It was built near the castle in 1900 due to high demand from the people of the area. However, because of the irregular shape and lie of the land where it was to be situated, it meant that they had to build an oval shape rather than the usual circle - making it unique in Spain. Our next stop will be the Contemporary Art Center of Mijas, a venue that can brag about having something in common with the great cities of Paris, New York, Madrid, Barcelona, Málaga. Pablo Picasso’s works are showcased in the CAC Mijas Contemporary Art Musem, in the center of Mijas village.
The route takes you to the inside of the Art Museum, where a private collection that holds 400 original masterpieces, some of Picasso’s great works and the World’s second largest Picasso ceramics will be displayed alongside world renown artists and friends such as cubist George Braque, japanese Fouijita, Salvador Dalí and Joan Miró.

  • Gibraltar - Highlights of Gibraltar

    Description

There is an enormous advantage to be gained by exploring with an experienced and knowledgeable guide. Explore the natural wonders, local flora and fauna, splendid views and military fortification that Gibraltar has to offer. In order to make this visit even more enjoyable, we will provide one guide for no more than 16 guests per each vehicle.

Modern technology does all the hard work once the mini coach drops you at the Cable Car Bottom Station. It’s only a short ride but the panorama opening out before you is incredibly breathtaking to make you forget you are actually suspended in midair. Once up, take a look at the Rock for a view of the huge catchments area and Catalan Bay, before striding along a wooded path to St. Michael’s Cave to admire what was a source of wonderment even in ancient times. To save time, you will board a mini-coach and travel north to your next stop. Monkies spring to mind when one mentions the Rock of Gibraltar and that is your next stop. These tail-less monkeys (macaca sylvanus) are roaming free. Keep your possessions close! You will then move on to Princess Caroline’s Battery and the entrance to the Upper Galleries. This labyrinth of tunnels inside the Rock includes the great Siege Tunnels. They represent arguably the most impressive defensive system devised by man.

Excavated during the Great Siege of 1779-83, they allowed the mounting of gun emplacements along the north face of the rock towards enemy positions. En route back to the yacht, your transport will pass the Tower of the Moorish Castle before entering the heart of the duty-free shopping area and Main Street, where you may choose between being dropped off (and making your own way back to the yacht later) or returning directly to your SeaDream yacht.

  • Gibraltar - Life in Gibraltar

    Description

Travel north from the pier for a drive across Gibraltar's unique runway to the border between this British Overseas Territory and Spain.

Proceed along Line Wall Road (part of the defensive curtain wall that forms part of Gibraltar’s old fortifications), passing the American War Memorial and The Trafalgar Cemetery to arrive at Europa Point. From this vantage point, you will admire views of the North African coast, 12 miles across the famous Straits of Gibraltar. Also you will appreciate why this territory was (and continues to be) of such strategic importance to the Royal Navy.

Next stop is the Caleta Hotel, located in Catalan Bay, a quaint fishing village inhabited by descendants of Genoese fishermen. At the Caleta, your guide will share their story of moving from the mainland UK to Gibraltar. Although Gibraltar is proudly British, there is a unique local culture and Mediterranean way of life. Your guide will explain some of the similarities and differences between life in the UK and Gibraltar, how Gibraltar has changed over the years, local customs and traditions and what life in Gibraltar is really like! While at the Caleta Hotel you will enjoy the very British tradition of tea, served with scones and snacks before heading back to your yacht.

  • Tangier - Tetouan – The White Dove

    Description

Discover charming Tetouan – a city in harmony with Arabic and Spanish influences. The architecture in Tetouan is a harmonious and fascinating blend of Arabic and Spanish styles, reflecting the town’s bicultural ancestry. Although Spanish is now rarely heard in Tetouan, the Spanish culture still plays a significant part in the life of the city. Andalusian music has remained dominant and trade with Ceuta, the Spanish enclave that is only about 25 miles away, keeps alive the historic links between the Arabic and Spanish culture.

Your visit starts with the main gate of the Royal Palace at Place Hassan II, together with some of the Spanish colonial architecture seen in the new town outside the medina around the Place Moulay El Mehdi (which lies just outside the world heritage property). Stroll around town to admire its little white homes representing a mix of Arab and Andalusian cultures, surrounded by lush vegetation. You can wander through the narrow streets of the old medina and souks, discovering all the hidden corners. Stop at a traditional teahouse to enjoy a refreshing glass of mint tea and Moroccan pastries. Conclude your visit of the Medina by an exit from one of its seven decorated gates Bab El Akla, the old town eastern gate looking onto the Museum of Moroccan Arts or Artisan School, where traditional art and craft skills are being kept alive and where the artisans are working on wood painting, embroidery, mosaics, copper, leather, stucco or inlaid wood with the same expertise as their ancestors four centuries ago.
