Ports

  • Venice

Venice has been known as the "Queen of the Adriatic", "City of Water", "City of Masks", "City of Bridges", "The Floating City", and "City of Canals". Luigi Barzini, writing in The New York Times, described it as "undoubtedly the most beautiful city built by man". Venice has also been described by the Times Online as being one of Europe's most romantic cities. Founded in the 5th century, the city stretches across 118 small islands in the marshy Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic. In 1987 Venice and its Lagoon was inscribed as a UNESCO Heritage site. SeaDream typically docks at the San Basilio pier after navigating by the famous St. Mark’s Square down the grand canal. With its yacht stature, SeaDream vessels are amongst the very few commercial vessels that can navigate this famous waterway. SeaDream does offer Land Adventures when overnighting. You can also contact our destination specialists should you need a private arrangement, transfer or hotel recommendation.

  • Piran

Piran may be the most beautiful of Slovenia's coastal towns. It is perched on a tiny piece of land jutting into the sea. It has the feeling of being more like an Italian coastal town, without all the tourists. Piran was part of the Venetian empire from the late 13th century to the end of the 18th century and also had some influence from Austria-Hungary Empire. We have excellent reviews when guests participate in the adventure to see the Lipizzaner Horses as well as the walking exploration.

  • Rovinj

Rovinj is a popular tourist resort in Croatia situated on the north Adriatic Sea. It is situated on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula and remains as one of the last true fishing ports. SeaDream has arranged some unique land adventure options including; Porec, a Touch of History, Culture & The Family Tradition of Wine Making, and the very popular Searching For Truffles in the Countryside. SeaDream is scheduled to anchor to offer water sports activities from the marina (Permission and conditions pending).

  • Rab

The island of Rab, located just off the northern Croatian coast in the Adriatic Sea, is rich in cultural heritage and cultural-historical monuments. The town, encircled by 12-century medieval walls, offers beautiful views of the harbor, a plethora of churches and four campaniles that are still the town’s most conspicuous landmarks. Visit the Church of Justina with its museum of sacral art, the Church of St. John the Baptist, the Prince’s Palace or the sculptures of Draga. The island is very popular with tourists and families for its beautiful nature, beaches, heritage and many cultural events.

  • Sibenik

The town of Sibenik is situated in one of the most well-protected natural harbors on the Croatian coast. Your SeaDream yacht navigates into the harbor past numerous islands in the archipelago and through a channel that is, in parts, less than 500 feet wide. While Sibenik is less well known than Dubrovnik and Split, it has its own personality and some great things to see and enjoy. Sibenik's St. James Cathedral is one of the marvels of the Dalmatian Coast and is Unesco World Heritage listed as of November 2000. In the old town, little streets lead to attractive squares where modern shops blend into the fine and stylish architecture of vanished centuries. Nearby is the Krka National Park with its river and numerous waterfalls and cascades. SeaDream Land Adventures offer you an orientation of the city as well as venturing to the Krka National Park & Waterfalls as well as the neighboring town of Zadar and Liquor Tasting.

  • Hvar

Hvar is a Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea. The island of Hvar is somewhat unusual as it is blessed with a large fertile coastal plain and fresh water springs. Its hillsides are covered in pine forests, with vineyards, olive groves, fruit orchards and lavender fields in the agricultural areas. The climate is characterized by mild winters and warm summers with many hours of sunshine. Guests have an option to kayak down the coastline on one of our land adventures or take an independent hike up to the fortress to have some incredible views of the picturesque harbor. You also have an option to bike across the island to Starigrad and meet up with the other guests on the land adventure called “The best of Both Worlds".

  • Trogir

UNESCO awarded Trogir is considered to be one of the oldest and most exciting villages along the Adriatic Coast. This town is located on a small island that lies between the mainland and Ciovo and sports some impressive medieval walls and a collection of Romanesque and Renaissance architecture. Kindly check the Land Adventures tab to see the wonderful options in store for you.

  • Dubrovnik, Old Town

  • Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik (Pearl of the Adriatic) is one of the most prominent destinations in the Adriatic Sea. It lies in the region of Dalmatia and was awarded World Unesco Heritage status in 1979. The population is approximately 43,000 and is considered to be among the 10 best medieval walled cities in the world. SeaDream anchors off the walled city as a port of call and tenders directly to the town gate. If you check the land adventures here, you will find that there are many different excursions to consider in this incredible town. Dubrovnik is also an embarkation point on select voyages. On these occasions, the yacht is docked at the cruise terminal.

  • Venice - Romantic Gondola Evening Serenade

    Description

Since Venice began there have always been gondoliers. By the 11th century most were in private service with patrician families. There were about 10,000 gondoliers in Venice in the 16th century, and today there are fewer than 400. Great skill is required to steer a boat through the narrow canals of Venice. Each gondola is 36 feet long, 4 feet wide and weighs 1,100 pounds. A gondolier serves a 10-year apprenticeship under a padrone before getting his own permit. A licensee must be native-born, and, since new licenses are not issued, must wait until a colleague gives up a license before getting his own. Their union offers free courses in foreign languages, art history and the history of Venice, but the gondoliers are not given singing lessons - every Italian seems to have a natural talent for song.

Join us for a romantic tour through the canals of Venice. Riding just the two of you per gondola, you will traverse the smaller, less trafficked canals, enjoying the soft lights and balconied waterfront homes, and be serenaded as you drift along. A singer and an accordion will accompany one of the gondolas and you will all enjoy the beautiful tunes as you glide along the canals.

  • Dubrovnik - Game of Thrones

    Description

The Old Town is so stunningly striking that it seems to have leapt directly from the pages of George R. R Martin’s addictive series of novels and it is no coincidence that Dubrovnik was also a capital city in its own right – of the now extinct Republic of Ragusa. On this tour, you will be taken through all the parts of the Old City where some of the most memorable scenes from the ongoing cultural phenomenon were filmed, including: The Pile Gate where King Joffrey was faced with a citizens’ riot and pelted with dung. The Lovrijenac fort where the unsuccessful attack on King's Landing, known as the Battle of Blackwater, took place. The seemingly endless fortified walls will be seen from Lovrijenac fortress where Tyrion Lannister and Varys took a stroll. All of the filming locations and commentary from your local guide will be accompanied by large, A4-sized photos that show the screen-shot from the appropriate episode and what took place. Of course, the people of Dubrovnik are also fiercely proud of their own fascinating history which your guide will also inform you about, alongside the Game of Thrones commentary.

  • Rovinj - Istria Truffle Story

    Description

An exclusive SeaDream experience awaits a small group of our guests today. Few areas of the world afford a real search for the "culinary gold" known as truffles, and most truffle farmers are extremely cautious of "trespassers" to protect their valuable crop. The best period to search for the truffles (white truffles) is between October to December, period of year between January to September is good for searching (black truffles) which is little bit lower quality than white truffles. You and your fellow lucky SeaDreamers will be leaving Rovinj by bus toward the Istria Peninsula Hinterland to the village of Paladini where you will meet with the Karlic Family (A grandfather, mother, grandchildren and dogs) at their Farm. The truffle business of the Karlić family from Paladini near Buzet was established last century by Mr Ivan Rašpolić, in 1966 to be exact. Back then Motovun forest was quite bigger than today. Both white and black truffles found in that area were considered to be among the best quality truffles in Istria. However, one of the richest truffle fields now lies at the bottom of the Butoniga lake! At the Farm, your host - Karlic Family - will give an introduction to the truffles and the history of truffles in Istra and their family. You will taste delicious products made of truffles all prepared by the family, including Istrian cheese with truffles, sausages with truffles, truffle patte, honey with truffles, olive oil with truffles. The highlight of tasting is a live interactive presentation of making famous Istrian “fritaja” scrambled eggs with truffles, when you will have the opportunity to join in cooking the fritaja. After tasting, your hosts will take you to a truffle hunt in their own woods where they grow and harvest black truffle. The truffles grow underground and are therefore invisible. However, their strong smell and of course trained dogs recognize them very well.

After your truffle experience your land adventure will be going to a medieval town of Motovun. This captivating hilltop town is one of the characteristic symbols of the Istrian interior. The Romanesque-Gothic bell tower with a crenulated crown from the 13th century, standing next to the Parish Church of St. Stephen from the 17th century, dominates the town's historic core. In the central square is the Romanesque Municipal Palace, the largest secular building in Istria of that period surrounded by many other historic buildings. You will enjoy a walk of the town and some free time for exploring this beautiful town before continue your trip back to Rovinj and your SeaDream yacht. A lovely experience and a day that will be remembered!

    Notes

While ever effort is made by the guides to locate truffles (they are invisible!), SeaDream cannot guarantee that they will be found! In an effort to make this Yachting Land Adventure a genuine truffle hunt, we have advised the guides not to 'plant' truffles in the hope that you will enjoy the authenticity of the experience and thrill of the hunt. The period from January through September is considered a good period to search for the black variety while October through December is a better period for white truffles. Please wear flat comfortable walking shoes and remember that you will be walking through forest and other natural surroundings where the path can be muddy. Should it be a hot & sunny day during your visit, please bring protection from the sun and extra water, which is available, complimentary, at the gangway. A minimum participation is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures and some have limited capacity. Final departures times will be published onboard.

  • Rab - Streets of Rab (visit to Rab Crossbowmen Association)

    Description

The small town of Rab was once encircled by medieval walls in the 12th century. Today, parts of the walls can still be seen along the cliffs, and in a few places close to the harbor. The historic town was founded in Roman times along a narrow tongue of land, so when travelers approached from the sea, they could see it proudly atop the head of the bay. Many were impressed by the town’s ancient ramparts towering above the sea and admired the sails of numerous ships in her sheltered harbor as well as the four campaniles, which are still the town’s most conspicuous landmarks. Rab is truly a town of rare charm packed with fine old houses and other interesting buildings. Your guided walking adventure will show you some of the finest features of this lovely town, including a view of the Cathedral, a three-nave basilica dedicated to the 12th century St. Mary. Further in the town, you will visit the Church of Justina with its fine Museum of Sacral Art. Along the walk you will also have the opportunity to see the finest buildings in town, including the Church of St. John the Baptist and ruins of the ancient basilica, the Princes Palace, and the sculptures of Draga and Kaliforni in the town’s main square, just to mention a few.

Visit to the Association of Rab Crossbowmen: The Association of the Crossbowmen of the Island of Rab was founded on 15 February 1995 while the Knight Games were restored in the same year, precisely on October 28. Since then, as many as 143 tournaments of knights have been held on the island of Rab, in many Croatian towns and abroad.

The association includes 156 members divided into groups such as crossbowmen, trumpeters, buglers, flag bearers, dancers, music players, gunners and squires. The games take place in the town of Rab and in some twin towns such as San Marino and Königsbrunn on Victory Day (May 9), Statehood Day (June 25),St. Christopher’s Day (July 27) and Feast of Assumption (August 15).

The costumes of the crossbowmen and trumpeters of Rab were designed by costume designer Dijana Boureek of the Croatian National Theatre of Zagreb based on a scientific study of Dr. Jelka Radauš Ribarić. The crossbows were made by the crossbowmen themselves with the assistance of crossbowmen of San Marino (Balestrieri). They weigh from 18 to 25 kg. The target (cocoon-like) should be hit from a distance of 36.5 m by an arrow weighing 0.15 kg. The flags symbolize the fraternities of Rab, i.e. the counties and town of Rab, whereas the leading flag is the flag of the Republic of Croatia. The trumpets were designed in Italian workshops at special request while the canons were made in Croatian workshops.

  • Sibenik - Krka National Park & Waterfalls

    Description

A short drive north of Sibenik takes us to the Krka National Park. The park encloses an area of 42 square miles along the Krka River. The area has numerous travertine waterfalls and cascades along the river which falls a total of 800 feet from its start in the Dinaric Mountains.
Upon arrival at the Park we head for the last set of falls before the river meets the sea. The Skradinski Buk Falls form a spectacular multi-level cascade over travertine cliffs. They are 150 feet tall and are segmented in 17 greater or smaller stages interspersed with a series of miniature azure lakes. The Krka river comes in contact with sea water in this area. Bring your bathing suit so that you can take a dip just below the falls.
Krka is rich in flora and fauna with well over 200 bird species living here, making it one of the most valuable ornithological areas in Europe. This unique area has been kept in its original state.
After a guided walking tour you will have some time to explore the Park on your own before boarding bus for the return drive back to Sibenik.
