Piraeus, roughly translating to “the place over the passage”, is an important Greek port located within the Athens agglomeration, in the Attica Basin. It is 12 kilometers from the municipality of Athens, considered the fourth largest and is the third most populous amongst all the municipalities of Greece. Now a peninsula, Piraeus, originally a rocky island, was developed in early 5th Century B.C. when it was initially designated as Athens’ import and transit trade port. It is the largest marine-based shipping center of Greece, one of the largest ports in Europe, and considered the second largest passenger port in the world.
Inhabited since the 26th Century, it wasn’t until the 6th Century B.C. that Piraeus began catching attention. The land of Piraeus was essentially impassable, flooded by the sea most of the year until centuries passed and the flooding ceased. By the 5th Century B.C. it became a navy base for the Athenian fleet for the natural harbors and the strategic potential they carried. Athenian general and politician Themistocles fortified Piraeus’ three harbors Kantharos, Zea and Munichia, created ship houses and completed his walls in 471 B.C., which led to the port becoming a great military and commercial harbor.
There are many archaeological sites, points of interest and entertainment available in Piraeus. Most famous for its tavernas and cuisine, several popular events take place in Piraeus, such as the Ecocinema International Film Festival, the Maritime Festival, the Piraeus Rock Wave Festival and the Three Kings’ Way Festival. There are also many theaters, including the Municipal Theater, the open air Veakeio Theater, and the Menandreio Theater. Museums in Piraeus include the Archaeological Museum of Piraeus, the Merchant Shipping History Institute Exhibition, the Panos Aravantinos Decor Museum, the Georgios Averof Museum Ship and the Museum of Electric Railways. Santorini, officially named Thira, is the southernmost Greek island that is within the Cyclades archipelago, in the southern Aegean Sea. Part of the regional unit Thira, the municipality of Santorini is comprised of the island Santorini, Therasia, and other uninhabited islands of Christiana, Palaia Kameni, Aspronisi, and Nea Kameni. The geological history of Santorini is quite complex due to the area’s volcanism and is currently a water-filled caldera: a rectangular lagoon that is surrounded by three steep cliffs. The name Santorini is a contraction of the name Santa Irini, which is based on an ancient cathedral found in the island’s village of Perissa. This name was given by the Latin Empire in the 13th Century. During the Ottoman Empire, Santorini was called “Santurin” or “Santoron”, and in early times, it was named Kalliste, Strongyle, and Thera.
Santorini is the site of the Minoan Eruption (also known as the Thera Eruption), one of the largest eruptions ever in recorded history. The origins of Plato’s story of Atlantis is believed to have a connection to this eruption that destroyed the early settlements on what was formerly a single island. The descriptions found of Plato’s Atlantis strongly resembles Thera, and with seismological, archaeological, and volcanological evidence, these claims are further supported. There is also speculation that the eruption is related to the Exodus of the Israelites, as well as causing the plagues described in the Bible in ancient Egypt.
The economy is sustained by two principal industries: tourism and agriculture, and has recently been voted as one of the world’s most beautiful islands in various outlets such as the Traveler’s Choice Awards in 2015. The wine industry in Santorini is becoming more relevant as well, made up of Assyrtiko, Athiri and Aidani grape varieties, which is best exemplified in Vinsanto (“holy wine”) which contains all three Aegean varietals. Although Santorini is highly arid, it’s unique ecology and climate allows it to grow unique and prized produce, such as cherry tomatoes, Lathyrus clymenum (a legume), and capers. Thus, tourists indulge in local specialties such as Brantada, Fava, and the traditional dish Santorinio Sfougato.
Mykonos is one of the most visited Greek Islands. It is part of the Cyclades group and lies between Tinos, Syros, Paros and Naxos. The island spans an area of 85.5 square kilometers (33.0 sq mi) and rises to an elevation of 341 meters (1,119 feet) at its highest point.
Mykonos is so incredibly beautiful; it is not surprising that it has become one of the most desired destinations in the world. When you also add the cosmopolitan lifestyle, the sophisticated nightlife and the historical treasures of the nearby UNESCO Awarded Delos you’ll have the recipe for an unforgettable holiday. SeaDream usually anchors just of the famous windmills and tenders directly to the old town. Guests have a few organized options including the Sacred Island of Delos. Others may simply want to explore the island’s incredible beaches, boutiques, clubs and churches independently.
There is one main town on Hydra, known simply as "Hydra port". It consists of a crescent-shaped harbor, around which is centered a strand of restaurants, shops, markets, and galleries that cater to tourists and locals (Hydriots). Steep stone streets lead up and outwards from the harbor area.
The charm of Hydra town certainly lies in her rich history, beautiful port and waterfront unspoiled by motorized vehicles. The island offers a rugged charm and some spectacular scenes and makes the perfect place for some self-exploration.
So narrow! So dramatic! You'll understand why SeaDream says "expect the unexpected" as your yacht transits the Corinth Canal. The canal was first completed in 1893, despite previous attempts from ancient times; the first plans being from 602BC. The Roman Emporer Nero actually started construction in 67AD, making the first cut himself with a golden pick. The canal we transit is 6.3 kilometres (3.9 mi) in length. Before the canal, ships sailing between the Aegean and the Adriatic had to circumnavigate the Peloponnese Peninsula adding about 185 nautical miles to their voyage.
Itea is a small town situated on the north coast of the Gulf of Corinth, 2 km west of Kirra, 8 km southwest of Delphi. The town has a nice beach along with some shops, cafes and restaurants. It allows the closest access to the incredible sight of Delphi which is within the top three archeological attractions in Greece and in 1987 was inscribed as a UNESCO Heritage Site. It is believed the Zeus wanted to find the center of the Earth so he sent two eagles flying from the eastern and western extremities and where they met was Delphi – becoming the “navel/center of the earth”. SeaDream has arranged the very best guides and vehicles from Athens to enhance this incredible visit further. Your guided visit highlights the ancient Sanctuary of Apollo, where Pythia, the celebrated Oracle dwelt, the Temple of Apollo, the Sacred Way, the amphitheater, the best-preserved stadium of Greece, and the Castalia Spring, where in ancient days the pilgrims had to wash before they were allowed to consult the Oracle. Nestled in the Ionian Sea, the island of Zakynthos is named after the son of a legendary Arcadian chief and a son of Zeus, Dardanus. The Venetians nicknamed the island “the Flower of the East,” as it boasts many beautiful beaches and rich vegetation with agricultural products such as citrus fruit, olive oil, grapes, and currants. As with other Greek islands, the culture and history of Zakynthos is extensive, dating to the Old Stone Age. Oldest mentions of the island date to the Mycenaean period, and ancient Greek poet Homer included Zakynthos in his famous works, The Odyssey and The Iliad.
The island is well known as an iconic diving spot and for Navagio Beach, whose name comes from a famous shipwreck in 1980. Enjoy Porto Limnionas Beach, Blue Caves, Keri Caves, Turtle Island, Banana Beach, and the endangered Loggerhead Sea Turtle habitat in the Zakynthos Marine Park of Laganas Bay. A rich culinary tradition and wine culture can be found on the island: thicker sauces accompany dishes that incorporate more poultry and meat than other Greek cuisine. Comoutos Winery is one of the oldest running wineries, established in 1638, and the island’s most famous wine, Verdea, is one of the only two wines in Greece under the PGI Category. Guests are welcome to explore the Venetian castle on Bochali Hill, providing a panoramic view of Zakynthos Town; the Church of St. Nicholas, and St. Dionysios Cathedral.

Porto Empedocle is a town and comune in Italy on the coast of the Strait of Sicily. Kindly do not judge the destination for what you could witness here. This port is the closest outlet to one of the best preserved Greek sites on the planet and has been rightfully awarded Unesco Heritage Site Status. The ancient Greek city and temples of Agrigento. Located only a few miles inland from the port and known for its mild climate even in the “cold season,” the Greeks choose their location wisely in an exceptionally fine natural setting with stunning views of the Mediterranean countryside. We hope you will join us on this adventure and, following your walk through history, you may wish to take advantage of the SeaDream marina for the rest of the afternoon for a refreshing swim (depending on the daily conditions and approval from the local authorities). Don’t forget to bring your camera; the massive Doric temples and their columns make for very impressive photos. On this land adventure, discover the picturesque village of Oia and one of the most important prehistoric settlements of the Mediterranean: Akrotiri Archaeological site. Could Akrotiri be the lost city of Atlantis?
One of the reasons Santorini has attracted the world’s attention is the excavation at Akrotiri, which reclaimed a whole prehistoric Minoan city from the volcanic ash. The prehistoric site of Akrotiri is on the south-western tip of the island and was discovered in 1967 by Professor Spyros Marinatos. The city was buried by the Theran volcanic eruption in the middle of the second millennium BC.
Over the years, excavations have brought into light a remarkably well-preserved site with two and three-story homes decorated with marvelous wall paintings and frescoes, an advanced drainage system and many interesting objects, artwork, pottery and furniture which give a picture of a society which was very well organized and at the peak of prosperity. This was interrupted suddenly by the eruption of the volcano, which buried the entire city. An ambitious modern bio-climatic roof top structure protects this important archaeological settlement where excavation works are still in progress.
After exploring the excavations with a guide, ride to the northeast part of the island and its most picturesque town, Oia. Built high up on the ridge of red rocks, it offers breathtaking views of the blue Aegean. Take a stroll around the narrow streets with the old beautiful houses and the tiny picturesque shops. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the caldera cliff and wander in the narrow streets for shopping or a cup of coffee during your free time in the village.
The guide visit ends in the town of Fira. Wander along the edge of the caldera for amazing views or wander through narrow streets with the various shops. When ready, take a cable car or walk along the path down to the small port of Skala Fira for tenders back to the SeaDream yacht.

Cruise the caldera and its volcano on a private luxury catamaran whilst enjoying the stunning views together with refreshments.
Transfer by tender to the pier in Vilhada where the captain and crew wait for your private catamaran cruise. Enjoy wine, beer, soft drinks, and appetizers on board throughout the sailing.
Take in the sea breezes and beautiful views while sailing past Red Beach, White Beach, the rock formations of Akrotiri and the lighthouse. Coming into view next will be the volcanic islands formed around 1570 BC.
Next, disembark and enjoy the beautiful otherworldly surroundings on the island of Nea Kameni. Take the opportunity to relax on the beach or walk up to the island’s crater and visit the natural hot springs, which have waters that are green and yellow due to their mineral content.
After exploring the village, board the catamaran for a journey back to the old port to tender back to the SeaDream yacht.

Mykonos is known for its golden sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. Take this opportunity to enjoy some time at one of the famous beaches of the island, the sandy beach of Elia where necessary changing facilities, beach chairs and umbrellas are available. The beach of Elia is fully organized offering also a wide choice of water sports facilities.

This Yachting Land Adventure arrives at Delos Island by a boat from Mykonos. Delos is the island of lights and the mythical birthplace of the God Apollo. Admire the interesting monument of the Agora, the treasures of the various cities, the theatre and the Sanctuary of Apollo.
Not far from Mykonos lies UNESCO listed Delos, the island of light, the mythical birthplace of the God Apollo and the Goddess Artemis. Its name means “that which appears" and, according to mythology, the island appeared amid the waves so that Leto would have a place to give birth to Apollo and Artemis. Delos Island, an area of only five sq. km (almost 2 sq. miles), was once a very important religious, cultural and commercial center. Today, the island is a piece of land covered with archaeological sites: fallen columns, sections of the famous mosaics which adorned the houses of the rich, a stadium, and tiers of seats from a theatre. Among these ruins, five marble lions in a row still stand. These were the guardians of the sacred lake, still gazing out to the east waiting for the sun to rise.
Other interesting monuments, spread over a wide area, are: the Agora, the treasuries of the various cities, the Sanctuary of Apollo, the Theatre, the Sanctuary of the Foreign Gods and the Sacred Mt Cynthus. Leaving the sacred island of Delos you re-board your local boat for the 45-minute return to Mykonos town.

Together with your guide start your walking exploration through the island's historical landmarks. The first stop will be the Hydra Museum Historical Archives where you may admire 19th century paintings of considerable artistic value as well as rich documental and photographic material detailing the long maritime tradition and history of the island.
Continuing your stroll around the port you will visit the Church of the Dormitian, which houses splendid icons, chandeliers and other offerings from the wealthy seafarers of the island. It is even said one of the chandeliers was stolen from Louis XIV and given to the church. Enjoy a coffee or a refreshment together with Hydra's local sweet " amygdaloto" at a local coffee shop.
Next, take the road uphill to reach Koudouriotis Mansion, one of the finest examples of the traditional 18th and 19th century architecture of Hydra. Built in 1780 by the ship owner Lazaros Koundouriotis, it now houses various items from the National Historical Museum of Athens, such as traditional costumes, jewellery, fine embroideries, pottery and wood-carvings. Enjoy a leisurely walk-through Hydra's little alleys and impressive stone houses before you return back to the yacht.

Take a walk through the hidden paths of Hydra town and along the coastline which lead to the beautiful Vlychos beach and reward yourself with a refreshing swim in the clear blue sea.
Walking in Hydra is the best way to explore its natural beauty. Walk with an experienced local guide from Hydra harbour along coast road passing Avlaki Bay, to the small fishing harbour, Kamini. Stop for photos and continue to Vlichos village and then along a coastal path to Vlychos beach for a swim in the crystal sea water. You will also enjoy a refreshment before returning to the pier by a local boat.

The Corinth Canal was built in the late nineteenth century and created a new sea route by linking the Corinthian
and Saronic Gulfs. Until that time, ships sailing between the Aegean and the Adriatic had had to circumnavigate the Peloponnese Peninsula adding about 185 nautical miles to their voyage. However, in antiquity the Greeks had devised a way of solving the problem of communications between the two seas. In the late seventh or early sixth century BC, the tyrants of Corinth constructed a paved road called the Diolkos, which led from Schinous on the Saronic Gulf to Poseidonia on the Gulf of Corinth. The Dioikos was 3-3.5 m. wide, and it was paved with blocks of limestone set in a deep layer of sand and gravel. Along this ran the olkos vehicle on which ships were borne overland from one side of the Isthmus to the other. Sections of the Diolkos can still be seen today; the deep parallel ruts in the road, 1.50 m. apart, are the marks left by the wheels of the olkos.
The ancient Greeks had of course, considered the possibility of digging a canal through the Isthmus. The first to look into the matter was Periander, tyrant of Corinth, who drew up a plan for a canal in 602 BC. Subsequent planners included Demetrius Poliorcetes, Julius Caesar and Caligula. These plans were later adopted by Nero, who in 67 AD announced to the spectators at the Isthmian Games that he was going to join the two seas by digging a canal through the Isthmus; indeed, he went so far as to cut the first turf himself, with a golden pick, and to carry the first basket of earth on his back. But his plans came to nothing, as did those of Herodes Atticus, the Byzantines and the Venetians in later times.
The canal we see today was built in 1882 -1893 by Greek and French engineers using the most advanced machinery of the day. General supervision of the enormous undertaking was in the hands of General Stepan Tupp, aide-de-camp to the King of Italy. The project was completed by the Greek Corinth Canal Company.
The canal is 6,343 m. in length. It has a width of 24.60 m. at surface level and 21.30 m. at the seabed, and in some places its sides are 79 m. high. The canal is crossed by road and railway bridges, while communications between Central Greece and the Peloponnese are also served by two ferries in the form of submersible bridges, one at either end (Poseidonia and Isthmia).
Discover Delphi, considered by ancient Greeks to be the center of the world, and visit its well-preserved ruins including the Sanctuary of Apollo. Also explore the museum containing sculptures and artifacts excavated from the Oracle and among its treasures a unique Bronze Charioteer.
Travel from Itea in your air-conditioned motor coach for approximately 45 minutes to reach the impressive site of Delphi. Situated on the slopes of Mt. Parnassus, at a height of 700 meters, you can understand why Delphi was once believed to be the centre of earth. The guided tour starts at the Sanctuary of Apollo, as you follow the paved sacred way to reach the Doric Temple of Apollo. In its Adyton the High Priestess " Pythia " sat on a tripod and delivered the oracles. The Theatre and the Stadium were used for the main events of the Pythian Festival. To the right of the entrance to the Sanctuary is the Kastalian Fountain, where Pythia washed before speaking her prophecies.
Across and below the road from the spring is the Marmaria or Sanctuary of Athena, with the conspicuous building of Tholos. Your visit continues to the Museum, containing a rare and exquisite collection of archaic sculpture including the world-famous Bronze Charioteer. After visiting the site and the museum you will board your coach for your return drive to the pier.

Take a refreshing mountain bike ride through the ancient olive groves of Delphi, set within the wider landscape of Mount Parnassos. After a short transfer from Itea, arrive near the Delphi Archaeological Museum, where you will be fitted with your bike and meet your professional instructor before beginning the ride.
The route follows a gently descending path through a distinctive landscape of millennial olive trees, combining cultivated groves with natural forested sections. Along the way, you pass the small chapel of St George, framed by tall cypress trees, before continuing toward the riverbed of the River Plistos. Here, a pause is made at a traditional stone fountain beneath the shade of a large plane tree, where local delicacies are served.
At the end of the cycling experience, you will be met by your vehicle for the return drive to Itea pier.

Cruise from Zakynthos Island in the area where the famous Caretta-Caretta turtles live and visit where they lay their eggs in the sand. On this Yachting Land Adventure, you have the chance to admire the beautiful seascapes of the island from the sea. Board your coach from Zakynthos port for a 30-minute drive to the Agios Sostis pier. Here you will board the local boat to start your short cruise around the island of Zakynthos. Also, this cruise will visit the island of Marathonisi with gorgeous beaches and crystal-clear water. Marathonisi is also the island where the famous sea turtles Caretta Caretta go to lay their eggs in the sand. After visiting Marathonisi, the boat will head to the caves of Keri for a swim stop. Please note that the tour sequence and content of this Adventure may change, because it is weather dependent upon the conditions of the day. After the cruise you will reboard the coach for the return journey to Zakynthos town.

Sightings of Caretta-Caretta sea turtles, while frequent, are not guaranteed, as they are wild animals in a protected natural habitat. Get to know Zakynthos through its rich history and traditional flavors while experiencing authentic Greek hospitality.
Departing from the pier by comfortable motorcoach, your first stop is Solomos Square, home to the statue of poet Dionysios Solomos, author of the “Hymn of Freedom,” Greece’s national anthem. The square is surrounded by notable landmarks, including the Byzantine Museum, Library, Spiritual Center, and the Church of Agios Nikolaos of Molos—one of the few buildings to survive the 1953 earthquake. You will then continue to historic Saint Mark’s Square, where in 1797 the Popolaris burned the books of nobility.
Your journey continues with a scenic drive through the island’s landscapes before arriving at a modern olive oil press. Here, a guided visit will take you through the production process, from traditional wooden presses of the 18th century to today’s modern techniques. The visit concludes with a tasting of olive oil served with homemade bread and local olives.
Next, visit a winery estate to discover the world of Zakynthos wines. Walk through the cellar where the wines mature and enjoy a tasting accompanied by light snacks.
Your final stop is Bochali Square, offering panoramic views over Zakynthos town and the Ionian Sea. On clear days, mainland Greece and Kefalonia can be seen in the distance.

Board 4x4 vans for a portion of the ascent to one of the greatest European Volcanos - Mt. Etna. Admire the unique volcanic scenery and at the base of the crater where a alpine guide will escort you to the 2,800 meter level for magnificent views of the volcanic craters of Etna!
Depart from the port for a dramatic drive via air-conditioned motor coach to the slopes of Europe's largest active volcano. The road winds its way through small villages, lemon groves, orchards, vineyards, chestnut and pinewoods. Gradually encounter the hardened lava fields scattered with volcanic cones. Enjoy the view from the Silvestri Craters located at an altitude of 6200 feet and surrounded by hardened lava flow. Appreciate this eerie, unique scenery and travel to the next level by cable car. Finally, board 4x4 vans for the drive to the base of the crater, to meet Alpine guides who lead the twenty-minute walk up as close as possible to the crater's edge. Then it's back down, winding through the fields and villages for a return to Taormina and the SeaDream yacht.

This tour involves a strenuous level of activity, with walking on loose volcanic shingle, some uphill sections, and exposure to high altitude (approximately 2,800-2,950 meters / about 1.74-1.83 miles). Guests must be in good physical condition and the tour is not recommended for those with walking difficulties, or with back, neck, heart, or respiratory conditions; it is not suitable for wheelchair users. Some steps are required to enter the cable-car station. Guests who prefer not to hike may wait at the upper cable-car station (2,500 meters / 1.55 miles) while the group continues higher. Closed-toe shoes and warm clothing, such as a jacket, windbreaker, or sweater, are required, as wind conditions at higher elevations can be strong and cold. Jackets, coats, hiking shoes, gloves, and socks are available for rent on site, subject to availability and size. The drive to and from Mount Etna is approximately 90 minutes each way. A restaurant is available at the crater base, where guests may purchase snacks independently; a box lunch may be provided depending on departure time.

Enjoy the unique scenery of the greatest European volcano and enjoy a visit plus wine tasting at one of the best-known vineyards in the region.
The excursion begins with a brief drive through the town of Naxos, founded by Greek colonizers in 8th century BC. Ride along the flanks of Mt Etna and continue to the village of Viagrande, situated on a hill on the slopes of Mount Etna. Viagrande is famous for being mentioned in the first novel (“Nedda”) of the Sicilian writer Giovanni Verga.
This village is also known for its vineyards and especially for its gastronomic traditions. The tour continues to the Benanti Winery Monte Serra estate for a sample of several the winery's finest vintages, paired with tastings of local cheese, sun-dried and fresh tomatoes, green and black olives, salami and bruschetta. The winery visit also includes the vineyard and the historical oak barrel room.
From Benati Winery, ride back down to Naxos pier where the SeaDream yacht awaits.

This tour includes uneven ground in vineyard areas and a few steps to enter the wine-tasting room, and is not suitable for guests unable to negotiate steps or uneven terrain; it is not wheelchair accessible. Comfortable walking shoes and a light jacket or sweater are recommended. Coach transfer time is approximately 60 minutes each way. If Benanti Winery is unavailable, a winery of similar quality will be substituted.

Agrigento is Sicily's “must-see” of all temples! Porto Empedocle is the most convenient gateway to one of Sicily’s most amazing sites – The ancient Greek city of Akragas and its temples. The archaeological area and the modern city of Agrigento are located only a few miles inland from the port.
The Greeks choose their location wisely in an exceptionally fine natural setting with stunning views of the Mediterranean and the countryside. Take a journey through history to see the massive Doric temples and their columns in a stunning setting that makes for amazing photos.
Locally licensed expert guides will bring the site alive with their commentary. The subtle beauty of almond and olive trees cover the surrounding areas, adding to the charm of the site. Explore the most important monuments: Temple of Juno, Temple of Concord, Temple of Hercules and the famous Temple of Zeus (the largest temple of Greek antiquity).
Following the visit, return by coach to the pier and the SeaDream yacht at Porto Empedocle.

Visit of the Valley of the Temples is entirely on foot (appx 1.8miles/3 kms) on uneven ground and has some steps. Hats, sunscreen and comfortable shoes recommended.
