  • Gordon's Beach, Long Island - Hamilton Caves, Dean’s Blue Hole, and Beach Break

    Description

Explore Long Island and experience two of its most impressive natural wonders – one dripping with stalactites, the other plunging 663 feet down into the world’s second-deepest saltwater blue hole!

Step aboard your air-conditioned bus at Gordon's Beach for an island exploration seeing its highlights: Gun Hill, the highest point in Clarence Town and the historic St. Peter and Paul church with stunning views of the harbor.

Next, travel along the scenic Queen’s Highway, to Hamilton’s Cave. Your expert guide leads you to survey the labyrinthine of darkness in the Bahamas’ largest cave system. Multiple chambers open to reveal impressive stalactites and stalagmites formed over centuries as well as many bats who (fortunately) mostly slumber during the daytime in the crevices of the caves.

Afterwards, return to the light of day for a short drive to the world-famous Dean’s Blue Hole. Surrounded by limestone bluffs and a splendid white-sand beach, this setting is idyllic for relaxing along the unspoiled Caribbean shore. But the real attraction here is to wade, or swim out, through the shallows to where the sandy seafloor suddenly disappears – suddenly dropping 663 feet into the world’s second-deepest saltwater blue hole. Or, dare to be brave and adventurous by climbing up the rocky pathway and plunge into the blue depths below. All too soon it is time to rejoin your bus for the return 45 minute drive to the yacht waiting at Gordon's Beach.

    Notes

This Yachting Land Adventure includes walking for approximately 1 hour over uneven ground with limited light at the cave and driving over somewhat rough road to reach Dean’s Blue Hole beach. Please wear flat, comfortable shoes suitable for the cave excursion, and dress in swimwear with cover-up for the beach visit. Be sure to bring along a hat, sunscreen, and your towel from the yacht. There are portable restrooms at Dean’s. Its recommended to bring US dollars to purchase any food or drink from the small local vendors. A minimum participation is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures, and some may have limited capacity. All adventures in the SeaDream Yachting Land Adventures program are subject to change. • San Salvador - San Salvador Bone Fishing

    Description

Bonefish fly fishing is a sport unlike anything else on earth. What’s more, is there is simply nowhere better than in the Bahamas to experience it on this Yachting Land Adventure.

Bonefishing in the Bahamas is a whole lot more like hunting than it is fishing. This is due to the temperament of the bonefish. With the constant danger of sharks or barracuda making a meal of bonefish, they are always on high alert. To top this off, they are also lightning fast and very difficult to see. Any sign of a threat will send them darting off with a flick of their tail, never to be seen again.

This may sound like the odds are stacked against you, the fisherman. This is actually the case, but that’s what makes bonefishing in the Bahamas such a thrilling experience. Roaming the sandy flats or creeks of the islands for a while until you, or more likely your guide, spots a bonefish is step one. This may take a little while, because of how well these fish blend into their background. In fact, you may think your guide is gesturing at absolutely nothing when a fish is pointed out. This is the easy part though, next you will need to either balance on the small casting deck of the boat that you’re on, or get your equipment ready while you’re knee deep in water. Any movement that is too fast or obvious will send your prey scattering in all directions.

Though big game fishing simply requires deep water, the conditions for bonefishing in the Bahamas are a little more specific. Fortunately, the sandy flats of San Salvador and Pigeon Creek are perfect. If you’re new to Bonefishing, be sure to get booked on this Yachting Land Adventure as space is extremely limited. Your guide has a sharp eye and is always nearby to help you spot your prey.

    Notes

Prices are per person with 2 persons in one boat maximum and a gratuity not included. SeaDream does not allow bringing your catch onboard the yacht. Some fish are protected and can be caught and released while others may be donated, through the captain. Catching fish is not guaranteed although very likely. A minimum participation is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures, and some may have limited capacity. All adventures in the SeaDream Yachting Land Adventures program are subject to change based on weather / wind conditions above 15 knots. Final departure times will be published on-board.
