Bodrum Castle & Gulet Cruising

Bodrum Castle & Gulet Cruising

This excursion blends regional history with a visit to Bodrum Castle, followed by a sailing and swimming adventure aboard a wooden gulet, complete with delicious snacks.

Following a short journey from the port by boat you will arrive at the Castle of Bodrum, created by the Knights of Rhodes out of stone plundered from the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus—one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Castle has five distinct towers. Inside the Castle, you can also discover the Museum of Underwater Archaeology, which houses an extraordinary collection of shipwrecks and artefacts found on the seabed dating from the Bronze Age to the Middle Ages.

Next, sail the magnificent coves of the Bodrum Peninsula on a gulet —the typical wooden yacht of the region that has plied these waters for centuries. These sturdy wooden sailing craft are indigenous to this region and a visit to Bodrum would not be complete without experiencing a gulet. Swim or snorkel in the idyllic local bays and enjoy delicious snacks on board accompanied by a chilled glass of wine and some light music.

Notes: Bring your snorkel gear from the yacht if you plan to snorkel on the gulet. A narrow ramp must be negotiated to board the gulet. Changing cabins are available on the boat. The use of sails is at the Captain's discretion and may be affected by weather technical details. Comfortable clothing and footwear and a sunhat are recommended. Also wear your swimsuit and bring a towel for the gulet. A minimum participation is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures, and some may have limited capacity. All adventures in the SeaDream Yachting Land Adventures program are subject to change. Final departure times will be published on-board.
