Cornish Countryside and the Town of Looe
Depart Fowey by coach and travel inland through the rolling countryside of Cornwall, a region known for its patchwork farmland, stone hedgerows, and small rural villages. The route leads toward the southeastern Cornish coast and the historic fishing town of Looe, located at the mouth of the River Looe. As the coach approaches town, views open toward the harbor where fishing vessels and small pleasure boats line the quays. Looe has long been associated with fishing and boat building, industries that developed significantly during the years following both World Wars and continue to shape the town’s maritime character today.
Upon arrival in Looe, guests have free time to explore the town independently. The River Looe divides the settlement into East and West Looe, each connected by a bridge and lined with narrow streets, small shops, and harborside buildings. Guests may walk along the waterfront, browse local shops, or visit the beach overlooking the bay. Several local attractions can also be explored independently, including the Old Guildhall Museum, where original prison cells and magistrate benches illustrate aspects of the town’s past. After free time in Looe, rejoin the coach for the return journey through the Cornish countryside to Fowey.
Notes: Travel time between Fowey and Looe is approximately 1 hour each way. Walking in Looe takes place on streets and pavements and may include sections with cobblestones. Wheelchair users must be accompanied by a companion responsible for providing assistance throughout the tour. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended, and weather-appropriate clothing is suggested. Cornwall’s coastline experiences tidal variation, which may affect the appearance of the harbor and beaches throughout the day.
A minimum number of participants is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures, and some may have limited capacity.
