Welcome to the sunny shores of the "White Beach". Lanzarote is a Spanish island, part of the Canary Island chain or Islas Canarias, and is a smaller sister to Tenerife and Gran Canaria. In addition to a popular beach destination and water sports related activities, Playa Blanca offers good shopping and dining opportunities. History fans should be sure to visit el Castillo de las Caloradas which served as a look-out for approaching pirates sailing to the close-by Marina del Rubicon.

Santander, Spain is located on the northern coast of Spain. It is an idyllic combination of sea and mountains. It has eleven sandy beaches with crystal clear waters and are a favorite summer attraction. Main attractions include the Cathedral, El Sardinero, The Placio de la Magdalena, El Hotel Real, Gran Casino del Sardinero and the Lighthouse of Cabo Mayor.

Gijon began as a fishing village nearly 3,000 years ago. The historic fishing village known as Cimadevilla is located on a peninsula that divides the port in half. The village is the main tourist attraction of the city. Most of the streets are narrow and cobblestoned. Many of the buildings have been renovated to display the colorful life of the village. Nearby Oviedo is the capital city of the Principality of Asturias in northern Spain. It is said that two monks, Maximo and Fromestanus, founded the city in 761. Oviedo was featured prominently in Woody Allen's movie Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

Vigo sits pretty along an estuary on the northwest coast in the province of Galacia, close to the Portuguese border. Boasting a lively ambience, atmospheric Old Town, and dynamic cultural scene, Vigo is the perfect seaside town, best explored by foot or bike. With its strategic location in the northwest corner of Spain, Vigo was constantly fought over during the many periods of war between Spain, Britain, and France. Nearby Baiona is a town with a medieval historical center situated by the outlet of Vigo Bay. On March 1, 1493, the Pinta, one of the ships from Columbus’ voyage to discover the New World, returned to Europe and arrived in Baiona, making the town’s port the first to receive news of the discovery of America. A replica of the ship can be visited, and the event is celebrated every year. Vigo is your gateway to the UNESCO-Awarded town of Santiago de Compostela, the capital of northwest Spain’s Galacia region.

Overlooking the Mediterranean city, Barcelona is a destination that welcomes exploration. Vibrant and metropolitan, this UNESCO-Awarded city is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Europe. It is especially notable for its Art Nouveau architecture and the work of Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi, which can be seen throughout the city. His best-known work is the immense, unfinished church of the Sagrada Familia, which has been under construction since 1882 and is still financed by private donations. Completion is planned for 2026. Puerto Banus is a very upscale marina to the west of Marbella, Spain on the Costa del Sol. It was built in 1970 by Jose Banus, a local property developer, as a luxury marina and shopping complex for the jet-set. The focal point of Puerto Banus is the marina. It is also a scene for many exotic cars that are owned by international celebrities and wealthy owners that also own large mega yachts. Our local agent tells us that SeaDream is the only commercial yacht that has docked in Banus. Several club members arrange a gathering with the local Ferrari Club and line up 20 or so Italian iconic automobiles along the pier. Just sit back and watch the scenery – awesome!

Altea is a town and municipality located in the province of Alicante. Because of its good weather, beaches and the labyrinthine streets with whitewashed house-fronts that characterize the town has Altea become a famous tourist attraction.

Ibiza town is the largest city on this 3rd largest Balearic Spanish Island. It lies 79 kilometers (49 miles) off the coast of Valencia, in eastern Spain. Ibiza has become famous for its incredible nightlife and the electronic music that originated on the island. This UNESCO awarded city has some great land adventure options including resort golf, wine tasting, exploring the Dalt Villa and mountain biking to name a few. We try to stay late in the evening so guests can also get a taste of the nightlife.

Valencia is the third largest city in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona. It has more than 2.5 million inhabitants in the metropolitan area. The city is recognized globally partly due to its Unesco Heritage Status as well as the City of Arts and Sciences. The Port of Valencia is a very busy commercial port. It is the 5th busiest container port in Europe and the largest in the Mediterranean. SeaDream docks as close to the city center as possible – just along the Grand Prix Raceway. SeaDream offers both day trips as well as a very popular evening adventure called “Valencia Buzzes at Night”.

Malaga, together with adjacent towns and municipalities such as Rincon de la Victoria, Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Alhaurin de la Torre, Mijas, and Marbella, forms the Malaga Metropolitan area. The important cultural infrastructure and the rich artistic heritage have culminated in the nomination of Malaga as a candidate for the 2016 European Capital of Culture. The internationally acclaimed painter and sculptor Pablo Picasso and actor Antonio Banderas were both born in Malaga. Cartagena was founded in the 3rd century BC and has been a major naval station. It is located in the Region of Murcia, southeastern Spain. Thanks to its strategic position on the Mediterranean, Cartagena has been inhabited by many different cultures which have left their mark on its rich cultural heritage during a glorious and turbulent history. It’s a very pleasant and relaxing city to walk around. SeaDream makes it easy is the yacht docks in the center of town. Guests have an option of a walking discovery adventure as well as resort golf at La Manga. Some guests also enjoy independent usage of the mountain bikes.

Tenerife is the largest of the seven Canary Islands, Spain. Tenerife also boasts the highest elevation of Spain, and has been awarded World Heritage Site status. It happens to be the third largest volcano in the world from its base, El Teide at more than 12,000 ft/ 3,660 m. The island's capital contains the architectural symbol of the Canary Islands, the modern Auditorio de Tenerife. Hugely popular, Tenerife, has both flat areas (covered with banana plantations) and mountainous areas. Santa Cruz is where you'll find a wide variety of shopping opportunities and fascinating architecture. If golf is your game, the island offers eight championship courses to choose from. Santa Cruz de la Palma is located in the eastern part of the island of La Palma in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife of the Canary Islands. Santa Cruz de la Palma is the second largest city and is the capital of the island.

Tucked away on the coast of the Bay of Biscay, just a few miles from the France-Spain border, lies San Sebastian. Rich in culture, culinary excellence, and scenic beauty, the little-known resort town, locally referred to as “Spain’s best-kept secret,” beckons exploration. Begin your San Sebastian journey in the atmospheric Old City – the capital of Pais Vasco’s Gipuzkoa Province, it is a vibrant center of Basque culture and history. The French frontier is just a few kilometers down the road, and perhaps San Sebastian shares more with Biarritz and Bayonne than it does with Madrid.

A coastal town sitting along the Costa de la Luz coastline in the Gulf of Cádiz, Huelva lies next to the estuary formed by the confluence of the Odiel and Tinto rivers. Huelva is surrounded by the unique landscape of dunes, marshes, and pines of the Doñana National Park, pristine beaches, and golf courses. Rich is maritime history, the province is noted for its Palos de la Frontera, and Moguer, where Christopher Columbus sailed out of on his first voyage in 1492.

Nestled in Spain’s Canary Islands on the island of Tenerife, sits the charming town of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, a city on the island of Gran Canaria that offers sun, sea and an exceptional historic legacy. Las Palmas enjoys a subtropical climate, with mild to warm temperatures throughout the year. Some say that this island of Las Palmas enjoys "the best climate in the world" according to a climatologist from Syracuse University. Mahón (also known as Maó) is the capital of the Balearic Islands of Menorca. The arrival by sea is really incredible as the Captain enters via a fjord-like inlet and then turns that yacht around and docks in the heart of the city. The capital has an interesting mix of old and new architectural styles. The port of Motril is the closest port to the ancient Moorish city of Granada, less than one hours drive up into the Sierra Nevada mountains. In Granada, the Alhambra, a Moorish citadel and palace, is the most famous building of the Andalusian Islamic historical legacy. Granada was the last Moorish city to surrender to the Christians during the "Reconquista" in 1492. The town of Motril is about two miles inland from the port. The beach of Playa Granada is a short walk from the dock to the fishing port.

The Unesco Awarded Seville is capital of Andalusia and is located between the Sierra Morena mountains and the Atlantic Ocean (60 miles away). Enjoying culture from the Romans, Visigoths, Muslims, Jews and Christians throughout the ages, and serving as the focal point of the Spanish Renaissance, Seville is rich in history and tradition. Palma de Majorca enchants visitors with its cathedral, an architectural masterpiece that presides over the destination. Visit the Old Town and admire the Royal Palace of Almudaina, before strolling along the promenade and dining on tapas and imbibing on sangria. Valdemossa, a beautiful mountain village in the Tramuntana Mountain valley outside of Palma, is steeped in old-world charm and a rich blend of olive and almond trees. It includes such notable gems as a thirteenth-century monastery where musician Frederic Chopin drew inspiration.

Formentera is the smallest and is the most southern part of the Balearic Islands, Spain. Formentera is located next to the larger sister island of Ibiza. This is a beach lover’s paradise! As it’s nearly flat, it is a perfect island for cycling, walking, snorkeling and sailing. However, it has very few cultural or historical attractions such as museums, castles, churches or art galleries. SeaDream anchors off the island and tenders to the pier at La Savina.

Cadiz is believed to have been founded some 3,000 years ago which could make this port city the oldest in Western Europe. The city has so much to offer its visitors with its commercial importance, stunning beaches, regional cuisine and the Unesco Awarded Donana National Park. There’s several significant landmarks in Cadiz, some of which include the yellow-domed Cathedral, the ancient roman theatre, an 18th-century watch tower, the city walls and so much more. Palamos is one of the best‐preserved fishing villages in all of the Mediterranean. Nestled in the coastal region of Catalonia, known as Costa Brava, Palamos is famous for its locally caught prawns, served up in abundance at local cafés. The town offers scenic hiking paths, beautiful fine-sand beaches, and an historic Old Town, just a short walk from the city center. Take in Catalan culture and Costa Brava’s maritime heritage as you explore its many monuments and museums, including the Castell de Sant Esteve, a ruined castle perched high on a cliff, and the town’s Dali House Museum and Fishing Museum.

Seaside Alicante sits along Spain’s Costa Blanca, the Mediterranean coastline that runs along the Alicante province on the southeastern coast of Spain. A holiday resort town known mostly to travel insiders, Alicante’s picturesque harbor and stunning golden-sand beaches complement its signature Explanada de España, a marble promenade lined with more than six million mosaic tiles. Alicante’s Old Town, Barrio de la Santa Cruz, is your pathway to the medieval Castillo de Santa Bárbara, one of Spain’s largest medieval fortresses, set on a hilltop with sweeping views of the Mediterranean.

In the Andalusia region of Spain sits Almeria, hugging the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, undoubtedly one of Spain’s best-kept secrets. It’s here you can enjoy the best that Andalusia has to offer, most notably its sea, sunshine, and golden-sand beaches. In the Old Town, Almeria’s Moorish heritage can be spotted on every corner. Take in its vibrant food culture in the open markets, fine restaurants, and tapas bars. Hike to the impressive Alcazaba Fortress, one of the best-preserved citadels in Andalusia, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

Dénia is a culturally diverse city on the Costa Blanca, situated on the northern edge of the Alicante province. It is halfway between Valencia and Alicante, and one of the oldest and most representative locations of the “Bous a la Mar” week-long festival (or “fiesta”) in July. Iberian ruins at Mt. Montgo represent evidence of prehistoric inhabitants in Dénia. In the 4th century, the town was a Greek colony of Marseille named “Hemeroscopion”, and allied with the Roman Empire during the Punic Wars. General Quintus Sertorius established a Roman naval base by the 1st century B.C.E. when the town was absorbed into the Roman Empire as “Dianum”. Once the Caliphate of Cordoba dissolved, after the Umayyad conquest of Hispania, Dénia became a Muslim kingdom known as the “Dénia Taifa”, created by a freed slave named Mujahid al-Siqlabi. The Muslim Arabs erected the castle fortress, which would later be rebuilt by the French in the 19th century during the Peninsular War. Dénia was captured by Christians in 1244 A.D., and the Muslim population was exiled. The town was declining, and eventually returned under the Crown of Aragon by 1455. Dénia continued to decline once the Expulsion of the Moriscos was ordered by King Philip III of Spain in 1609. The city fell to the French during the War of Spanish Succession, but once the Treaty of Utrecht declared Philip, Duke on Anjou as King of Spain in 1713, Dénia was returned to Spain. By 1803, Dénia was established as a trading port under the Spanish crown, and it began flourishing with its raisin exports. Dénia is known to be home to the iconic castle overlooking the city, which is now an archaeological museum with guided tours that guests love to visit. Since the 1960’s, the fishing and tourism market has made this port a thriving attraction, offering rich history, and other outdoor activities. Tourists can visit Macizo del Montgo Natural Park, Playa de las Marinas, and of course, visit the castle.

At the mouth of the Francoli River, on a hillside rising from the Mediterranean Sea, sits Tarragona, one of Spain’s most flourishing resort towns. In cultured Tarragona, a UNESCO World Heritage site, Roman history mingles with gorgeous sun-kissed beaches and a gastronomic setting that fills its boardwalks with unimaginable culinary aromas. Perhaps its biggest allures are the ruins of a seaside amphitheater and a mosaic-decorated museum, boasting one of the best collections of fourth- and fifth-century Christian documents in Spain, historical emblems made for inquisitive exploring. The Necropolis features Roman tombs and traces of the Forum stand among the alleys of the walled, medieval Old Town. Stroll the Old Town and visit the towering Romanesque Cathedral and one of its lively bistros. A walkway along the ramparts, the Passeig Arqueològic, leads to sweeping views of the surrounding community.

Just south of the Bay of Bisbay in northcentral Spain sits mountain-backdropped Bilboa. The town’s remarkable landscapes and defining architecture, including the Guggenheim Museum and Catedral de Santiago, only begin to express its charm. Known as one of the secret treasures of Spain, Bilbao comes with a cultural allure that few can resist. Bask in Bilbao’s rolling green hills and breathtaking coastline, enjoy Michelin-inspired restaurants, and stroll Old Town’s endless cobblestone streets filled with wine bars and bistros. Indulge in traditional Basque cuisine, including classics like pintxos and bacalao al pil-pil.

On the northwesternmost corner of Spain lies La Coruña, a distinguished city favored by history for its strategically important placement. Its most prized landmark is the 2nd-century Tower of Hercules, the world’s oldest Roman lighthouse still in use, a colossal structure that has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. Stroll through graceful María Pita Square, named for the revered 16th-century Coruñan woman who inspired a successful counterattack on Sir Francis Drake’s intimidating English Armada. At the spectacular Aquarium Finisterre, gaze at myriad undersea creatures through massive glass panes, perhaps continuing your exploration of the city’s striking shoreline at the formidable San Antón Castle, a terrifically preserved 16th century fortification. Should you strike out to the lovely countryside, quaint villages such as Betanzos will delight you with houses that showcase the region’s distinctive glass-paned balconies. Don’t forget to visit one of La Coruña’s inviting tabernas, where excellent seafood is complemented by the lively conversation of friendly locals.
