San Salvador Bike & Beach Discovery

Experience San Salvador from the saddle of an e-bike on this guided island ride. Your local guide leads the group out from the port, and the electric assist keeps the four-mile ride to the Columbus Cross easy and effortless. Standing at Long Bay, the white cross is traditionally believed to mark the spot where Christopher Columbus first came ashore in the New World on October 12, 1492, on an island the native Lucayan people called Guanahaní. Take photos, then enjoy a 30-minute beach break to swim, walk the shoreline, or unwind, with water and soft drinks provided.

Back on the bikes, ride north to Cockburn Town, the island’s main settlement and seat of local government. Columbus named the island San Salvador in thanks to God, but for much of its history it was known as Watlings Island, named for a 17th-century English settler, until the name San Salvador was officially adopted in 1926. In town, enjoy 15 minutes of free time to browse the local gift shops for a souvenir or a gift to take home. A short ride then returns you to the port, wrapping up your island ride.

Notes: The bikes used are e-bikes; however, they do not have baskets, so guests are advised to bring a backpack to carry personal items. Guests must know how to ride a bike and be confident cycling on roads. Helmets are mandatory at all times while cycling. Please wear cool, layered clothing, sunglasses, sunscreen, and closed-toe flat footwear such as tennis shoes. No dresses are allowed. It is recommended to wear a swimsuit under your clothing if you plan to swim at the beach, and to bring a hat, sunscreen, and water shoes. Guests should also bring a camera or phone for photos.

A minimum participation is required to operate all SeaDream Yachting Land Adventures (YLAs), and some may have limited capacity. All SeaDream YLAs are subject to change. Final departure times will be published on-board.
